you can read it and get 2 attribution points(only one time i think) . If you take them you get to fight shades for XP points. I dunno what happens if you destroy them

Don't keep them, it will effectively end the quest line and you can't go back and repeat it. (from what i've gathered).

you have to fight the shades/demons when you destroy them

You can still get 2 points and trigger the boss fight if you destroy the first 4 (5?) and read the last book, btw.

I'm starting a warrior run as a little bit unconventional elemental warrior.

The most insane thing I've seen is a guy soloing Hybris (on Nightmare) with the build:



We'll see how it goes. I'm actually starting the game on Normal because I'm not all that interested in playing the pre-Kirkwall part on NM a second time.

alright i suck ... stuck on another fight

dailish camp - go into a cave labeled "newly open passage" or something. i enter a building and fight my way through various hallways with fire shooting out of the wall. Golems and shades mostly. Then i get to this big round room with an evil tome and what appears to be a Golem Store. It has a chest that says "golem wares" or something.

Then the spawns start, the never ending spawns of rage demons,shades,desire demons, 3 revenants over and over again. I'd say 20-30 monsters.

is there something i need to do to stop the flow or do you just have to survive all those waves of spawns?

it's a gauntlet you must pass in order to shop with the nexus golem (he has some sick items for sale), so I'm pretty sure you just have to fight wave after wave until it's done

What difficulty are you on, BTW?

So, really there's no point in destroying them.... some of these quests are pretty annoying like that in DA2. What the **** was with the book you get from the elf elder that has no price because it's so powerful? It's so powerful that it went straight into my garbage section and was worth 70 silvers... OOOOOH

I think it's a gauntlet as much for the tome of evil as for the nexus golum, but either way.

Laz, my strategy there on nightmare was to keep my ranged party members backed up against the doorway to the previous room (it locks when the fight starts) and then have Aveline (or whoever your tank is) creep slowly into the room, aggroing as little as possible. As soon as you aggro, get the hell out of the room, and fight everything at the bottom of the steps. If you play your cards right, you'll be able to save between waves.

That was actually my strategy for about 99% of Nightmare. Never fought anything in the room that it spawned. Tried to break the waves up so that they're manageable.

You probably don't want to hear this, but there are much worse fights to come.

well the nexus golem explicitly states that you have passed the gauntlet and only a shaperate could do that, therefore you must be a shaperate and as such have the right to purchase items from him, lol

You get something like 750xp/book for destroying them, that's the only real (non-RP) upside. Generally I'd rather get the xp than the coin, although there isn't a lot of money in the game prior to act 3 (at least not on nightmare - I'm actually going to try runes of fortune on my latest run).

The Arishok battle. I've tried it about 7 or 8 times now, and I haven't made much progress. I've tried dueling him, which is just ****ing impossible with me being a mage. I've tried the group approach, but one of those Saraabas bastards ends up wasting 2 of my group in one shot. I'm getting frustrated as hell with this part...
