You can be really good and also overrated.

What makes me laugh are the suggestions that Elway would throw for 6,000 yds and 70 TDs today. I think a lot of them actually believe that.

Elway is a ****ing pussy.
Dawson also spent 5 years riding the pine in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Then after he came to the Texans/Chiefs, he played for the very conservative Hank Stram. Imagine what a coach like Andy Reid or Don Coryell might have gotten out of Dawson over all the years of his career.

Len Dawson may be one of the most underrated QBs ever. Dude was insane for his time.

Those numbers are absurd and would never happen but Elway would be really good in today's NFL, it just is what it is.

Dude took a beating in his career.

Marino on the other hand, holy hell who knows what he could do in todays NFL.

Matt Ryan hasn’t even put up big TD numbers in this era. He’s never thrown 40 and has only thrown 30 a few times. And yet he’s #9 all time. I’ll let you figure out why.

As a Chiefs fan, I hated him. And over the years, it became begrudging respect. It's not luck when it just keeps happening. Those three SB losing teams he had were terrible and had no business even making it to the SB, but Elway just kind of willed them to that game.
I am no Broncos fan nor am I am Elway fan, but to compare his stats to modern QBs is silly. He played in an era when QBs didn’t put up the same numbers they do now. For their generation only Marino was more prolific. Elway did win a lot of games in big situations outside the SB.
