You can blame Andy for that one. His insistence on having the WR position be so complicated in this offense is what leads to that shit. Other teams are constantly throwing rookies out there and seeing them produce, but it's just simply not an option here.

Moore and MVS might suck flaming donkey balls, but they know the playbook, so they'll be in the game. It is what it is. Drives me insane but the guy obviously has immunity at this point, have to take the minor BS with all the good.

100% agree. He did that last year a lot too. Not only get to the spot but too often you see him sit there and wait for the ball instead of attacking it. He makes a few good catches but he makes too many questionable adjustments. That feels more instinct vs willingness or smarts. And I don’t think that’s something he’s going to just pick up this late in his career. He is what he is.

The front office and coaching staff have gotten way too cute over the years in assembling this group. Too many times the obvious WR has been there and available and we keep defaulting to picking up guys who fit some kind of ill-defined mold. Watson is probably the only WR in the room nailing his job (being the semi-speedy WR#4 making big catches when we need it).

Rice - A drop machine
Toney - No idea what this guy does well
MVS - Watson does what he is supposed to be doing
Moore - should be on the streets.
Ross - Idiot

I don't really expect they'll do much of anything to address WR before the trade deadline, not sure they'll be willing to give up enough to find someone who would actually make much of a difference. I do think the room can still improve to some degree this year, but not sure by how much.

Long term (beyond 2023), I'm at a loss as to how they improve the group. Rely on the draft where their success rate is maybe 25% at best? Even if they do find someone in rd 1 or 2 we know that they're going to be slowly integrated into the offense and won't be ready to contribute much until the mid point of the season at best.

Do they sign/trade for a big name WR? Certainly will be some decent ones available, but with CJ a free agent and huge holes at LT and DT I'm not sure how much they'll be willing to spend here in draft picks and/or FA contract(s).

Veach supporters will tell you he will do everything possible to address the position, and I hope he does, but I seriously question his ability to do so. I hope I'm wrong. The 2023 results speak for themselves, way too many draft picks spent at WR for this group to be complete shit outside of Rice. And speaking of Rice, we have to hope he is the KC version of AJ Brown or Brandon Aiyuk.

When does Richie James come back? He can replace Moore.

At the very least he's done something in the NFL. Pretty slim pickings on the roster. His best game was 9 catches for 184 yards and a TD. That's a full season for Moore.

To me the main problem right now is that we don’t have a dependable guy who can run a route to move the chains on 3rd down. There’s no Juju, no possession guy you can count on. Maybe they thought Moore was going to be that but he’s not an every down player in the NFL. Drives are dying because we’ve got third and 6, 3rd and 8, etc and nobody can move the chains.

It’s frustrating to see that even when Mahomes moves the pocket or scrambles for more time, we don’t have anyone besides Kelce who can reliably get themselves free in space

As low as Moore has set the bar, it seems impossible to me that James wouldn't surpass it. Easily.

Rice has absolutely been that guy.

The issue isn't the loss of JJSS. At least not in relation to last season. It's the regression of MVS and the disappearance of Toney.

Moore's the same ball of suck he was last season and James hasn't been healthy enough to supplant him. MVS looks older/slower. Toney's just a non-entity.

And frankly, Mahomes is pressing. He's taking shots on balls he shouldn't (3rd and short plays) and then passing on shots when he should. He's simply not playing to his usual standard of play.

James has at least proven he can be a productive NFL WR for a full season. He caught almost 60 passes with an utterly useless QB.

Moore couldn't carry his jock at this point, just don't put him on PRs.

Ok, so *ducks shit thrown at his head* is it that crazy to look into Sammy Watkins as a bandaid?

Right now what we need most is a bandaid. A guy who can fill jujus role and give rashee the time to progress at the right pace. He’s cheap, knows the offense, and even if he can’t stay healthy it buys us time to figure other shit out with the rest of the WR room. Especially with rashee. If juju can do it with his limited abilities, Watkins can do it at his age for a half season

Then in the offseason get aggressive (probably through the draft).

True. But he sure was sucking when he was playing for KC early on. But you're right. No way he can be worse than Moore.

My wondering about if they miss Bienemy is more about the details and accountability factors, which are things that Bienemy was known for. Is Nagy too buddy-buddy with the guys? Bienemy is a hard-ass. Seems like they kind of miss having a hard-ass on their tails.

I definitely think they've gotten way too cute with the play calls. They need to get back to the basics and build it back up from that.

And I think it's clear at this point that Moore is a bust. Time to demote him and promote Rice.

It's time to quit with the manufactured shit for Toney and either play him as an actual WR or not at all. Hardman's better at that stuff.

It's time for more Watson and less MVS. Watson is better. He plays bigger, he runs better routes, and he makes the tough catches.

I still believe there's more raw talent here than the rooms with Drob and Pringle, but they need to start showing it consistently.
I absolutely agree with this, but I've also tempered my expectations re the level of talent. I thought Moore could have a role, I no longer think this. None of our WRs are top, i dunno, 50 WRs? They can absolutely play better and be better utilised, and if so I see no reason we can't win another SB with them playing at their best. But they are a limiting factor to the ceiling of this team.
