2014-2015 NBA off-season Lebron goes home thread.

I will update this when the schedule is announced in a couple of weeks, but I will open with the new uniforms for the Charlotte Hornets below.

The Heat tried to convince Luol Deng and Lowry to go there and take a paycut. So what you'd have is the same point guards that were liabilities last year and Napier who's probably way too raw to be ready, Wade who is now older one more year, and maybe if they're lucky, an end of career version of Pau Gasol. Meanwhile, their bench depth will be pretty lousy.

So if you're Lebron thinking about the next 5 years of your life, you're probably going to hang your hat on the young, talented roster than the roster with a ton of money tied into players who are rapidly declining (by the way, I think the Suns can make that argument too). In my opinion, James played this very smart. He basically gave Miami an ultimatum that is reasonable but they know they can't possibly accommodate.
That is not what is being reported. Bosh and Wade have both said they will take less to stay and improve the team. I am not going to disagree that their bench possibly will still be lousy but they would be a lock for the Finals regardless. Also it has been reported Lebron might only sign a 1-2 year max deal in Miami so he wouldn't be on the hook with them for the next 4-5 years.

Varejao and Tristan Thompson aren't world beaters. They are more than solid enough to play a support role. Waiters and Kyrie are both proven scorers and shot creators, even if it ends up in a Westbrook / Harden type rotation. And Wiggins at the very least will probably be a very good defender right away. And you still have young guys like Zeller and Bennett who at least have the upside to be rotational players.

In a rotation with LBJ/Kyrie/Waiters/Thompson/Varejao you should have good scorers with ability to rotate in Zeller and Bennett who (maybe) can also shoot from the outside. In a rotation with LBJ/Kyrie/Wiggins/Thompson Varejao, you have a solid defensive rotation. It won't be like in Miami, where you have two critical players at Point and Center who were pretty much liabilities. The Cavs may not have overwhelming talent throughout the roster, but they have enough depth to play lineups with minimal glaring weaknesses.
If Lebron signs Waiters is gone which would make Kyrie very happy

That's a bit of an overstatement. Thompson can easily be a regular double-double guy. He's been asked to play a ton at Center because Varejao is always getting hurt. At Power Forward, Thompson gets a lot of rebounds especially offensive ones. He's not a very good shooter and he needs to be a better finisher. The second half probably comes with better coaching, which he should have for the first time.

If you stick him at Power Forward and leave him there, he is actually a good defender and rebounder with ability to score in double digits. You could do a lot worse.

I love it that everybody is going crazy over the Nick Athan types in Cleveland.

By the way Nick Wright is having a blast on twitter with those idiots.

Yes. They would have made it last year if not for terrible coaching. The regular season started and they hadn't even installed offense yet!

As of now, the Cavs roster is better than the Heat roster even if you put Bosh and Wade back with the Heat. Also even after signing LeBron, the Cavs could get one more decent player by shedding some contracts.

I never agree with Rudy on anything but he's right about Thompson - he's awful.

No doubt in my mind that if LeBron signs, Kevin love is coming with him. Kyrie Bron, Love? Nasty.

Considering right now the Heat only have two players under contract.

Well yeah right now only the Heat have Norris Cole on their team. I don't know if they could make the playoffs this year. I think the Nets fall (if Pierce leaves) and Pistons or Knicks (depending on Melo) taking their spot.

Did you not read the next part.

Hell, no matter what the Heat do, the Cavs can do better. If LeBron goes back to the heat, they can only get a 5-10 mil guy. If he goes to the Cavs, they can even add Kevin Love if they want to.

In terms of competitive rosters, Cavs have the upper hand.
