That you guys trusted him to control the majority of the $5000 to gamble with is really on y'all, and is also the best part.
That and thinking Alex smith in 10% of the lineups was solid strategy- "you know... spreadsheets and all show the bears suck at defending QB's"...forget the fact that you guys actually watch the guy play and watch the coach call shit play after shitty play. Everyone of us here knows that if the cheifs were down 7 with 4 minutes to go, Andy and Alex would still try to orchestrate an 8 minute drive. How was playing the bears going to change that stupidity? Hootie should not be banned, this was awesome to follow and better than anyone watching from the sidelines could've hoped for. Keep up the good work, Hootie... |

You defend Hootie with every opportunity to defend Hootie. You've defended him in more than a dozen posts in this thread alone. You defended him against Phobia, you've defended him against other members (including me) and I'm sure you'll continue to defend him in the future. I've got no dog in this hunt and nothing that's been posted is in any way a surprise, nor is it a surprise that you've rushed to White Knight Hootie. Cue the defense of "Saul" of himself. |

This is hilarious. So glad I left that thing alone. I was about to hit send on PayPal when something told me that it was a bad idea. Hooray for gut instinct.

I think you mean "common sense" when a group that can't even agree on who is going to put the lineups in thinks they are going to be able to outsmart all the professionals who run this trade.

I invested in the hilarity and Nzonee/floppy plus putting in my own input. Hoots wanted a one man show, ran off guys with good ideas, and it became a dumpster fire.Had a damn good week of lineups this week the tournies I was in.

Been more of a lurker lately but this thread gave me too many laughs for me not to post.
How were there 50 grown men willing to give $100 for this? Even without Hootie I'm sure it wouldn't work. But not only did they include Hootie, they made him one of the people in charge of lineups WHAT THE **** DID YOU EXPECT? Probably the most opinionated and stubborn people on this board, and you have him controlling your money? Good luck.

Oh and I'll be the first to admit I've lost my fair share of tourneys,I've just been one of the fortunate ones to win more than I ever deposited.

Hootie didn't control the money. He was supposed to be part of a team that created lineups. When he proved that he can't be a team player, he was fired. Nobody would have signed up if Hootie controlled the money. |

This is just mind-boggling. If I was in a position where I had control over how a $5,000 pool was wagered, 98% of which was other people's money, I'd be terrified of doing anything the group didn't want. I'd make damned sure everyone agreed with the plan before doing anything, and if there was any question or disagreement, I'd do nothing till it was sorted out. Its almost like having a fiduciary duty.
If I felt that I had the secret sauce for winning, and the group wasn't listening to my brilliant idea, **** it, I'd go to the other major DFS site and put my own lineups there.

That said, this idea of taking a very large group of smart people and collectively analyze that week's contest is a good one. Hypothetically, 50+ brains should have a better chance of winning than the lone wolfs who try to figure it out on their own. All you need are rules, solid leadership, and the people in control of the lineups need to be ethical and trustworthy. (woops)
