Shit, maybe Powe will fall to the 4th, or Pioli has something else in mind for NT. Ellis late or Neild.

Allen Bailey Scouting Report
By Greg Cox

Strengths:
Athletic and strong
Long arms
Powerful bull rusher
Explosive
Disruptive - gets through gaps
Pursues well defending run
Great motor
Hard worker with upside
Position and scheme versatile

Weaknesses:
Trouble getting off blockers
Limited pass-rushing moves
Average snap reaction
Needs to improve technique
Raw prospect who needs coaching
Positional 'tweener
Possible durability issues

Summary: Allen Bailey might be stuck in no man's land when it comes to a true position at the NFL level. While position versatility is coveted, he has limitations in both spots. At end, he does not have the speed required to rush off the edge, and at tackle, he is not big enough. He is a tremendous athlete though and a former linebacker. Unfortunately he has underachieved.

A team might select Bailey on Day 2 believing they can coach up his athletic ability and really have something special in a couple of years.

Player Comparison: Robert Ayers. In terms of height, weight and speed, they were almost identical at their respective Combines. When Ayers went to the NFL he was considered versatile and has struggled to find the right position. Now he will hope to find his way as Denver switches schemes. This is a good example of how a great athlete can get lost at the next level even with clear ability, and Bailey might suffer a similar fate. The one major difference is that Ayers excelled at the Senior Bowl while Bailey struggled mightily, and will not be selected anywhere close to No. 18 overall as a result (as long as the Buccaneers take someone else at No. 20).

Strengths-Is a well put together player. Flashes ability to command double teams if he can get off the snap quickly. Is best at playing the run. Shows good natural strength. Gives good effort and plays to the whistle. Shows good football awareness and knows his responsibilities. Has position versatility.
Weaknesses-Is not a quick twitch athlete. Teams will struggle to find a position for him. Does not show great hands or the ability to shed blocks well. At times can be blocked by TE. Does not break down well in space to finish the play. Lacks NFL array of pass rush moves.
NFR Draft Analysis-Bailey is a DE/DT tweener in the truest sense. We believe he has the ability to provide depth to a team looking for a versatile Defensive Lineman. Bailey could develop into a starter with a few years of coaching. Ultimately his value is somewhere in the late 3rd to early 4th round of the 2011 NFL draft.
NFL Comparison-Vernon Gholston

My initial reaction was "wha?" but it seems like a solid BPA move.

It helps when the head-scratching pick they make is really good value...

Sounds much more like a typicaly 3-4 end then we have on our roster.

The powerful 6-foot-3, 285-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.71 seconds at the NFL scouting combine and registered a 36 1/2 inch vertical leap, a 9-9 broad jump and bench pressed 225 pounds 27 times.
