(RIP) Nzoner

Joe called me yesterday and asked to me post about what is going on.

If you haven't heard, he has been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer.

Talk about a rock. Guy survives his heart attack, then loses his wife, and now this? It's incredible to me how strong he is...I mean, can you imagine?

They have given him a pain blocker that he says is working well, though he has trouble eating. He had a port installed for chemo.

He is in incredibly good spirits, even though he admitted to me he's tired, he wants to finish the race shining the Light of the Lord to others. He's at peace and I'm proud of how he has handled ALL of this with so much grace.

Please pray for mercy if you would be so kind. He didn't ask me to start this thread so people could feel sorry for him, he asked me because he wanted you all to know that the headstone finally was set in place, he just wasn't up to doing it ( in hospital today), and I don't blame him.

I'd like to thank everyone who donated to this cause. Joe is a special guy a and all those bashes made more than good times, they made lifelong friends. I'll forever be grateful to have known him & Kathy.

Be good to those you love.

-----

MOD EDIT: Here's a little more detail on Joe's new work:

The visitation is a maybe for me at this point, but I’ll for sure make the funeral.

RIP Nzoner,

As I recall, he enjoyed ZZ Top. Thought this was suitable:

My condolences to everyone who knew him. He seemed like a very generous and gregarious guy.
I would have loved to go to a CP bash, but you other assholes ruined it with the whole Buck "hat burning incident". I imagine the below picture is evidence:

My favorite memory with Joe didn't involve a bash. I had two tickets for the 2007 KU/MU game at Arrowhead. The wife didn't really want to go, and neither did my uncle, who didn't give a crap about Missouri or Kansas football. So I called Joe and asked him if he wanted to go. An avid Mizzou fan, he immediately said yes. We had a great time, and it really felt good to give something back to a guy who had done so much for so many others.

I had a collage made of various items from the game (the Star flyer that was handed out in the parking lot afterward, the Daniel SI cover, my ticket, and a photo of Joe and I taken immediately after it ended) which hangs on the wall of my den over my computer. I'm looking up at it as I write this. Joe is smiling down at me. I like it.

I had so much fun bantering over the years with Joe over the Royals and Mizzou.

My heart hurts that Joe is gone, but was extremely blessed to have shared a friendship with him for many years. Sadly, he and I had a mutual experience with our spouses and he had come to me heartbroken and shattered by what had happened with Kathy. He was hesitant to get involved with our movement to seek justice, but rather put his energy towards his organization, L.O.S.S. In my heart, I know that Kathy was looking after him and helping to guide him in helping others. My thoughts, love, and prayers for peace for all who were blessed to have known him. RIP and dance in the heavens with the love of your life, Joe.

It can't be overstated how great of a person you must be to welcome 30+ internet degenerates to your place multiple times over the years. The effort and coordination, welcoming anyone who stopped by and spent a night, and an amazing wife who was just as welcoming and also put up with us.

He's a legend and pillar of this community, and I hope he truly knew how big of an impact his contributions had here and how appreciative we are to be part of his legacy.

RIP

I'm pretty sure that picture was from the Larry Johnson jersey burning fire. It may have been the same night that Buck's hat got burned.
