***The Official MMA Thread***

Excited about an upcoming fight? Want to make predictions, or just give people a heads-up that there are some fights on? We can do it here.

(Also a good place to complain, dicuss, and agrue about the outcomes)

My only problem with peoples comments in this thread regarding Cormier is that folks were letting their personal feelings dictate their predictions and fighter analysis. That's all.
It probably seemed worse than what it was given the fights DC had to follow. DC was the only fighter on the PPV that drew boos from the crowd for lack of action.

Anderson Silva broke his leg in half, healed, came back and won a fight. Cain's last fight was before any of this occured.
Saw that quote today on another message board and had to laugh. Horrible luck for the UFC that their heavyweight champ gets hurt so often. If he can't make the next fight in June for any reason at all, then they need to take his belt away and promote Werdum.

Which is a tragedy for MMA heavyweight fighting. Werdum is a decent fighter who's certainly diverse, but in no way should he be a UFC champion. Why has the heavyweight division always been so weak in the UFC? Since I've started watching, it's been the Tim Sylvia/Andrei Arlovski era, then the Brock Lesnar/Frank Mir era, and now the Velasquez/JDS era. At least now, it's pretty top heavy.

And my favorite fighter of all-time is Alistair Overeem.

Pretty weak card tonight in Brazil. The only fight thats really worth watching is the main event, which should kick off sometime around 11-11:30pm central

Yes, it definitely was. Some of the prelims were cool too, but the main card was dull until the co-main. That was a great fight.

That was one of the bloodiest fights I've seen. Alves is a warrior.

The only UFC 2015 curse is the game itself. What an absolute trainwreck.

The UFC has partnered up with USADA to handle the new drug testing program. USADA will handle everything: the protocol, who, when, where, how often, etc. The UFC will have no say in it other than how many tests overall are done and paying for the tests.

There is literally no one in all of North America more qualified to handle drug testing than USADA.

edit: 2,750 tests per year. This averages out to 5.5 per year per athlete

The UFC also announced that they will have their own sanctions, which seem a little more lenient than NV. (So, we may someday have someone eligible to fight for the UFC but not in NV or any state that reciprocates with NV, so I guess they may have to fight overseas in some area that the UFC self-regulates)

Anabolic steroids, growth hormones, peptides, blood doping drugs and methods (tested for in- and out-of competition):

1st offense: 2 years (with possibility of 4 years for "aggravating circumstances")
2nd offense: Double the sanction for the 1st offense
3rd offense: Double the sanction for the 2nd offense

marijuana, cocaine, other stimulants and glucocorticosteroids (tested for in-competition only):

1st offense: 1 years (with possibility of 2 additional years for "aggravating circumstances")
2nd offense: Double the sanction for the 1st offense
3rd offense: Double the sanction for the 2nd offense

edit: "in-competition" has also been defined, it is the time period from 6 hours before weigh-in until 6 afters after the fight. So, I guess wait at least 7-8 hours before a celebratory smoke
