Turbo build is in full swing boys. I picked up a never installed, Huron Speed v3 no A/C kit for about 1200 bucks cheaper than buying it new, got all my odds and ends for the most part bought, but still havent settled on turbo and cam selection just yet. I posted a thread over on tech, if you guys want to check it out, vote in the poll etc.

I think that Sunfire is a concept vehicle.

We have this cool concept for a new model, we call the Sunfire.
But.......we’re just gonna go with the Cavalier platform instead,

.96, 364 ci/6.0
it will be limited by the exhaust wheel.. but its still going to make what I need. (have seen these make anywhere from 600-750 hp on a 6.0 depending on setup) ts the largest small frame turbo out there that is a reasonable price. the BW s475/s480 is probably the 'perfect' fit for a 6.0, but there are a couple issues. first - the size of the turbo, it would take a lot of fudging to get it even to fit in the kit position (for those who dont know, the BW style turbo are ****ing HUGE) second - the fab work. , not only to make it connect to the turbo headers , fabbing a downpipe, swapping to a turbo k member (i can stay stock with my current setup) moving the radiator, fabbing a bracket to hold the damn thing, etc etc third - honestly, those kind of turbos make it easy for me to turn it up high enough to scatter it all over the highway, and.. the temptation would loom. so yea, i spoke with Huron Speed who makes my turbo headers/kit and basically he advised to switch to the t6 manifold if i want to go borg warner, which is more hassle, fab, money than i want to **** with, and people have gone 9s on the 7875s in full weight cars so thats going to be plenty for me. They also spool sooner and have a meatier midrange than the larger sized turbos, so i think they will be just fine for my street car. I mean hell.. in 2010 we all used to sit around and marvel at the guy with a 76mm turbo in his mustang on how huge his turbo was, and now im looking at 78mm turbos going 'i can make that small turbo work' lol here is a very similar example of my setup, the only difference is he is going through a t56 and i have a 4l80. he made 711 rwhp 771 rwtq 17 PSI Pump 93 + 100% METH I dont know if i mentioned it, but I will also be spraying meth, bought a nice little kit and dual nozzle set up from snow performance Last edited by hometeam; 12-30-2018 at 10:54 AM.. |

its happening boys!
Over the last two weeks just working a couple hours a few days a week after work, I have pulled and disassembled and inspected the motor and trans (shit was CLEAAAAN and rings where gapped properly already.. oh well) Preparing all the new parts, the new heads, etc etc. Motor and trans are back in the car, and starting tonight the turbo build begins! we gonna go fast! will get some pics of the progress. BTW anyone want to buy a FAST 92/92 setup or a set of hot tanked and ready to go set of patriot stage 2 CNC ported 243s with 59cc chambers? (11.5ish compression depending on setup) heads are complete with 1500 miles on BTR .660 springs and retainers, and super nice harlan sharp roller rockers. I KNOW YOU NA BOYS WANT TO MAKE SOME POWER~ |

Since I technically posted a Grand Tour post in the Top Gear thread, and since this Gearhead thread is actually active at the moment, and as Capt Slow drives the Exorcist and hometeam is hotrodding a T/A, I'll repost here.
