They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

Ha… you are absolutely right about his contract. I meant that he has the remainder of this year. (1 yr left) Sorry for not being more clear. Even with that, I think it still makes sense for the Chiefs if they can negotiate a good long-term deal. He’s much better at taking off the top of a defense than MVS or Watson. Brown has better career stats than either of them.

And as I said, some speculation that Cards may take less than a 2nd. Reasonable compensation for him. If true, he would be a great addition for the Chiefs.

What in the actual **** has Hollywood Brown done in the NFL to make people think he’s worth trading for?

Christ, at least Mecole has experience and been successful in this offense and locker room.

His name is Hollywood and he's fast as hell. I have no idea why the moran retarts wouldn't want Mahomes to have one of those, NO MATTER THE PRICE!!1

Remember when some people were saying Mecole was going to learn to run NFL routes?

If we get Hollywood we will get to see what that dream actually looks like.

I’ll second that emotion His stats speak for themselves. Imagine Brown catching passes from the greatest QB on the planet. Not a likely trade as of right now, but I’ll keep up the good vibes. Maybe SR can DM Veach on behalf of CP!

Hardman looked a lot more capable as a normal WR running real routes last year before he got injured. I’d much rather have him for a 6th than Brown for a 2. Not even close.

Id take both.

But Mecole produced nothing without Mahomes/Reid.

Hollywood produced with Lamar, Kyler, and now Josh Dobbs.

Brown is a much better WR. I’m fine with Mecole as an elite gadget guy.

Brown is only 26. If you can get him for a 2 and work out a reasonable extension, I'd do it. I don't think he's going to command a top of the market contract but it's not going to be cheap. Still, I think he's a great target for Mahomes and the cheap route is a big struggle, especially if Kelce ever misses time.

We've used a pair of 2s on WR already. One shows decent promise but one looks to be a bust. I'd just as soon lock in a known quantity at WR for the next several years. Again, just depends on what the contact ask is.

Are we discussing who is a better receiver?

Or would you value more highly having Brown + a 6th round pick or Hardman + a 2nd round pick?

Given comfort in an offense that people don't usually just fall into, I'd take the latter many, many times over.

You wouldn't?

What do you think Veach would normally prioritize?

The problem with this logic is the likelihood that we trade for him and lock him up for something that's "reasonable" is non-existent. Why would he give up the optionality of being able to negotiate with all teams?

So then we've traded for a guy who will be a FA after the season and might command more than we're willing to pay him and then we've used a 2 on a guy who hasn't cracked 1,000 yds more than once in his career and is out of our control.

He is a good WR. He has not proven to be an elite WR yet in his career. You're not getting him for the next several years at a price that's going to feel good for the Chiefs. This is all fantasyland.

Between Brown and what it would take to get him, and getting Mecole Hardman back, I would rather have Hardman.

I personally would love for us to bundle whatever picks necessary next year and make a serious move for Marvin Harrison Jr.

We don't have glaring needs to fill in the draft next year, other than receiver, so why not try to get THE wide receiver in the draft?

Can you imagine Mahomes having Harrison Jr. for a minimum of 5 years on a rookie deal?

Mahomes has proven that he can go God Mode when he has an elite receiver to match with Kelce. Having Harrison Jr. would help us transition to Kelce's replacement.

Losing Kelce without having another elite pass catcher could be very bad, especially given the current state of the receiving corp.

But to answer your question, it depends. Last year they had a veterans in JJSS and MVS. This year it is just MVS and I really think they need someone that actually played the position or coached the position for a long time so they can coach these guys up or have a good mixture of experienced veterans.

I look at the development of the young DB's last year and Dave Merritt was a LB but he has been coaching DB's since 2006. They also had Reid and Sneed as veterans leading that group.

Just my .02 cents.
We've got Todd Pinkston coaching the RBs (for some reason?) if we need somebody like that to bop over to the WR room and show/teach something

We would have to trade something like 3 1's to move up in the draft to get him.

Does that sound good to you?

Why not? Everyone is convinced that we don't have to have NFL caliber receivers because Mahomes can drag this team to the SB regardless.

If he can do that, he can certainly drag this team to the SB throwing the ball to Marvin Harrison Jr. on a team without a 1st round draft pick for 3 straight years.
