Dude, if mahomes played in elway's era, Patty Deuce would be a grease stain. He almost lost his knee running a QB sneak. Always said you guys would be good once they basically outlawed tackling a quarterback.

Being you're an expert on grease stains...I'll take your word for it. Would they pause a post-season game to wipe it off?

Conversely.. if Horseface played in today's NFL...they would have been disqualified for greasing their jerseys...so one less fake trophy.

Dude, if Elway played in Mahomes' era, ol' Horse Face would basically be Drew Lock.

And that contract is still coming due.

Butbutbutbut…. Dungver got a really important 4th back so that makes it soooo much better. Nevermind the fact that they haven’t drafted a single decent player with a 4th round pick since at least the draft they took Von. I gave up looking when I got that far down the list, as I figured it was a fruitless search.

The hooch liquor has rooted your brain enough to jot realize Denver traded 2 number 1 and a 2 for Russell. Throw in the QB, TE and a DT that are totally replaceable.

I know younguys already have claimed multiple SB's for Mahomes and this trade makes it that much harder for you guys to win. Nevermind the rest of the division got better too.

This stupid argument always cracks me up. Joe Montana absolutely dominated that era, but Mahomes' body wouldn't hold up?

Mahomes put up 800 yards in a college game vs Oklahoma with a scaphoid injury and an injured throwing arm. He also lobbied to go back into the Denver game after they popped his knee back into place, and after his concussion vs Cleveland.

He's tougher than any of the pussies that have ever QB'd the Broncos.

Yes, Mahomes will win multiple SBs and the KC franchise will surpass Denver in every way.

Mortgaging the future for WalRuss will not stop this inevitability.

That's actually bad news for you...KC not so much. When you finish every year in last place...you need your rivals to get worse.

You do know the Raiders have swept you for 2 straight seasons...correct? They gained an OC posing as a HC and Adams...you guys just lost Patrick.

We come up with new stat measures every day around here.

I'll leave it with this, when Elway retired he ranked all-time:

#1 wins by a QB - now he is #6
#2 passing yards (Marino was ahead of him) - now he is #11
#3 passing TDs (Marino and Tarkenton were ahead of him) - now he is #13

Elway played in 5 SBs and won 2 of them, with a SB MVP.
Double digit wins in 9 of 16 seasons.
10 playoff appearances in 16 seasons.

Elway retired after the 1998 season just as the league was becoming more pass friendly and the rules about hitting the QBs were becoming nothing like the league had seen in the previous 3 decades.

Reeves knew how to win, but those first 10 years of Elway's career could have been better from a stats perspective had a more offense friendly coach and philosophy been in place. Those of you that are old enough to remember those games in the 80s will have a hard time refuting that fact... with a straight face anyway.

When you look at the leaderboard now for most stats (even that fun little meme focused on 100th TDs and the INT count), you have to admit that those guys for the most part are all from the last 25 years.

Elway was greatness and it would have been a lot of fun watching him play in today's NFL. Comparing him to Eli is fun for shits and giggles... Elway didn't always win pretty, but he was a hell of a QB and a great player.

I'll let you kids continue doing what you do, but that's all I've got to add in regards to stats and legacy. Have fun.

The QBs of the 60s and 70s were the real “DIFFERENT ERA!!!!!” players.

QBs from the 80s have far more in common with the dudes from the 90s than they do the really old ones.

No doubt that the 60s and 70s were vastly different, but the 80s and early 90s were still nothing like what we have seen since Manning, Brady, Ben, Rivers, etc entered the league. QBs could still get trashed by defenses in the 80s/90s and the offenses were only becoming prolific like we know them to be now in the late 90s. Since 2000, forget about ... that is why you see so many guys from the last 25 years in the top 10 of all these life-time rankings.

Everybody understands the difference in eras. We don't need those of you still reliving the glory days to inform us. If we were straight comparing numbers to numbers, Mahomes mops up the floor with Elway in every way possible. It wouldn't be close.

Mahomes' numbers wouldn't be the same in the 80s/90s, but there's a good chance they'd be better than Elway's. And he'd still win a ton of games.

Don't forget changes to how DB's aren't allowed to touch WR.
