Call Your Shot: Who will be the Chiefs first pick in the 2025 NFL draft?

I'm going with Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio St.

I think the Chiefs would prefer a guy like Walter Nolen or Derrick Harmon falls into their lap, but I don't think that happens next Thursday night, or at least I'm not going to get me hopes up.

A lot of people will not like this pick, due to the injury risk, but the Chiefs take a swing at a T that otherwise would never be in that late 1st round range.

Side note: I could also see Josh Conerly being the pick and could've just as easily chose him. Upside isn't as high, but he's probably safer given his health.

Yep. FWIW, in terms of career starts, Zabel owns four at guard...17 at RT, and 16 at LT (all in his senior season, where he earned 1st-team FCS All-American and All-Conference honors) from what I could gather.

Right this minute he has literally 150 tabs open with every possible player the Chiefs COULD consider loaded up and ready to go, complete with no fewer than 5 highlight vids per thread.

This is why I love Dante84.

Another angle to the Josh Simmons rumors -

All this talk about us taking him is lazy reporting about the story. Yes, we all watched our All Pro guard get decimated by elite pass rushers playing left tackle, along with our entire line eating shit that game. Automatically assuming that we're going to take a tackle because of it, much less one with a damaged patellar, is just predictable and dull. And if there's one thing I can say I've learned about Brrrrtt Vortex over the years - he is absolutely not predictable and dull in the draft. ESPECIALLY in the first round.

That's ****ing Carl Peterson level energy, media. Stop it.

The Chiefs have done a ton of homework on OL in particular this draft. Just because a majority of folks here are vehemently against taking Simmons or Conerly doesn't mean the media is completely off base here.

Josh Simmons to the Chiefs media hype is starting to approach Luke Joeckel territory.

He seems like a nice young man, and I really don't want to unfairly hate a person on the internet.

I'd be OK with Conerly, tbh, but I believe both will be gone before we are in the box waiting to pick (if you want to take the same media at their word and how they're reporting teams aren't worried about Simmons' knee), and I don't feel we have the ammo to move up significantly in this draft.

This is not a strong OT draft, and because of that the top guys will be gone early, perhaps all before 20. If we're going to take a guy to let him sit and develop, take Logan Brown in the 4th (or package the 7th's to move up and nab him in the 5th-ish).

The only way I think a trade down happens is if it’s a bidding war and you get over fair value. I wouldn’t do it just to pick up a fifth.

And yeah, it wouldn’t happen if Harmon, Nolen, Burden, Egbuka are on the board.
