Unpopular Thought: Trade McDuffie

The Chiefs latest dynasty run was a direct product of the Tyreek trade. Now money is tight, draft resources are slim, and the young players from Veach's great recent drafts are getting to the age to be paid so will be leaving soon. And that's aside from the glaring need for a franchise LT.

Any chance we could get back what makes it worthwhile to give him up this offseason?

What are we doing here? Do elite players matter or not?
Did Tyreek?

There is no trading McDuffie. Not happening.

And the only way we "fix" LT, which to me means we have a good player and not just a guy we cross our fingers can get by, we trade for an established player. That's it.

There's no one in free agency and apparently only short armed guys in the draft that Andy and co refuse to draft. Draft really isn't an option.

You overpay again in a trade or you don't fix it. LT is like QB - you overpay unless you're lucky enough to have one at your draft pick. Good ones don't show up in free agency.

Christ dude, you need to step away from the team for a bit. That's INSANE. I mean completely and totally batshit crazy.

This is a bad OT draft and you want to trade into a soft spot in it using the best defensive player we have AND our 1st AND high 3rd rounder?
I saw something Sunday that made me worried and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. It wasn’t sacks, OL play or defensive TD’s.

I saw Patrick Mahomes turn into Alex Smith in real time. That play where he held onto the ball with plenty of time in the pocket and checked down instead of throwing it deep to Worthy should worry everyone here. That’s extremely concerning. And no I don’t care about the bomb he had to Worthy later. It meant nothing. The game was over.

This staff has effectively taken the gunslinger out this kid and damaged his entire mentality. The last 2 years have done tremendous damage to Mahomes that needs to be fixed now or it could ruin him. He plays scared now.

LT is by far the 2nd most important position on a team, especially a team that is coached by Andy Reid.

So yes. As the post stated. IF Andy and Veach love a LT prospect I would do it. Happily. Twice over if it fixes this mess. This staff has made me very desperate.

When I saw that live I was floored. Because Worthy had his guy beat, and Pat pulled it down to throw the short.

That's not good. It's not good at all.

No way I’d do this. We need our picks. We don’t have to draft a LT this year. There are gonna be other options. Maybe we take a step back this season, not necessarily not making the playoffs, but not making the SB. I’m just not willing to trade that all for a rookie LT.

Also fully understand the Mahomes part. I think there were LOTS of things going on that we Weill never know about. But I def feel like Kelce told Mahomes he was gonna retire after the season. Something was very heavy on Pats mind, and he just wasn’t himself really from even pregame.

I mean, everyone seems to agree that our options are not ideal for LT where we have a red hot emergency. Not ideal in the draft with our draft position and best free agency option is probably to overpay and settle for an average veteran. So the best option is to kick the can down the road another year?

I really don’t want to lose mcduffie but it feels like we’re not gonna fix this unless we think bold. And we just don’t have the chips to be bold. It would have to be a hell of a haul but how can we just flat out rule out the only bold move we can really make?

I think we have to deal with the reality that we’ve really been masking mahomes’ issues for a while. I don’t think it’s something where we can kick the can down the road another year. Every year we’ve done this we’ve just continue to reinforce bad habits that become harder to un-****.

I agree with this, just keep retooling thru the draft and filter in a few FA's.

Please stop.

I don’t want to see this post next to another one where people question the team’s ability to draft and develop tackles.

If we traded Mahomes for a LT, he would never get sacked in a Chiefs jersey again.

Josh Simmons seems like a total mystery. Who knows how far he’ll fall because of his injury. Is he a guy you trade up for if he falls low enough (not with mcduffie….). I don’t really know much about this draft class. Seems like the kind of risk a back of the draft team could make.
