One of them was legitimately trying to take him out, even Simms thinks that and so even if neither one made contact I think it's a good call.
This point needs to be made far more often.

IMO Texans should have been better at football if they wanted to win

It forced them to go into their red zone packages which helps explain a bit why he was off on those early throws (though the poor run and dropped pass by Pacheco didn’t help).

Not sure I buy it or not but I guess it could be the case.
My big problem with this is that Caliendo struggled at LG, and Pacheco has struggled a bit since his injury. Of the 500 plays in the playbook, why is the first play a run by Pacheco directly at Caliendo? That appeared to be the absolute worst way they could try to start the game.

That thought also crossed my mind as those plays happened because they clearly would have had to go completely off the planned script once they started in the RZ. If Simms thinks it's a thing, it's probably a thing.

It blows me away, that the Texans players and coaches had the balls to talk about Referees while giving up 8 sacks, missing 2 FGs and an XP, allowing an opening KO 63 yd return and going for it on 4th and 10 at the KC 40 while down 8 and with 10 mins left in the game. I mean, maybe look inward a bit first before lashing out?

The bigger issue with the second roughing call is that Pat should have given himself up sooner. He came too close to having two major crown of the helmet hits to his noggin.

The tacklers continued through the tackle with intent to hurt Mahomes.

On the first roughing the passer call...watch the view the back judge had. It was the textbook definition of launching and forceable contact to head/neck area of a quarterback. As an elite NFL pass rusher, you have to know that shit is a penalty. Chris Jones dealt with this garbage for years as well and he LEARNED. CJ95 freaking drops quarterbacks like a feather now. I for one am so over all of it. Moving onto the AFCCG.
