A Level Headed Review Week 7 2023

1. MVS - Making himself known this game. 2 Receptions for 74 yards and a TD at half. This is the MVS we need on a weekly basis, someone to keep the defenses honest and pop the long ones. 3 for 84 to finish the game.

2. Defense - looking really good. Omenihu, Karlaftis and Gay with sacks in the first half. Gave up 2 quick strike TD's in the middle of the second and the 49 yard TD run was just a tackle whiff by Reid at the LOS and the only person left was Edwards who doesn't have the wheels to catch up. It'll happen when you play aggressive like the Chiefs do. I'd rather them stay aggressive and occasionally have to deal with giving up a big play than play soft. Another game of holding an opponent to less than 20 points. Chalk up another couple of sacks in the second half to Tranquil and Danna. 7 total passes defensed.

3. Mahomes - starting to look like Mahomes of old with 21/24 321 yards and 3 TD's at HALFTIME (4th career game with 300+ yards at half). The offense in general has really found its old self, Kelce still dominating, Rice emerging and MVS reminding us he can still catch a ball. I'll be curious to see Hardman's snap count - hoping the solution to what ailed our offense was just a dash of Hardman with the growth of Rice. 32/42 for 424 yards and 4 TD to finish the game.

1st Half 300+ yard games
09/08/19 vs Jax - 313 Yards
09/15/19 vs Oak - 360 Yards
11/29/20 vs TB - 363 Yards

4. Omenihu - deserves his own bullet. Has really shown his presence with the sack and the batted pass that led to a Sneed INT. Glad we took a flyer on the guy knowing he was going to serve a 6 game suspension. He will be crucial for us down the stretch ala Dunlap and Suggs.

5. Mecole Hardman - Glad he is back in a Chiefs Uni. The Punt return was spectacular and a clutch 1st down catch in the 4th Q. He may not be a #1 but he is certainly an important piece of this Offense and special teams unit.

6. Bolton - Hoping the injury isn't too serious. While next man up (Tranquil) applies it is still going to hurt if he misses any time.

Fun fact - Top 5 in scoring D and O

Points Against after Week 7:

Chiefs - 105
Buccaneers - 104
Cowboys - 100
Ravens - 97
49ers - 87* (MNF Game)

Points Scored after Week 7:
Colts - 178
Chiefs - 178
49ers - 184
Bills - 198
Dolphins - 230

And I've never been that impressed with total yards as an indicator of anything in particular.

But I looked at yards/play (7.5), 3rd down efficiency (6/11), RZ efficiency (3/4), and concluded that the offense showed significant improvement over their season numbers in those stats.

However;

The Chiefs didn't rush the ball very well at all, but overall the offense statistically was more efficient, in spite of a poor showing on the ground.

It's also true that the Chiefs went 4 consecutive drives to start the 2nd half without scoring, in fact, they turned it over to start the half, then were forced to punt 3 times in a row.

And it wasn't for lack of trying either.

They tried to pass 11 times in their first 18 offensive snaps of the 2nd half, at least 6 times to a WR, and completed just one ball to a WR in the third quarter.

They also scored just one time in the 2nd half. And needed a huge return from Hardman to do it.

But, in spite of the obvious issues they had in the 2nd half, imo, the offense did show some improvement, specifically in the stat lines that I listed at the top of this post.

So while you might be jizzing unicorns and rainbows over the total yards stat, I'm looking a little deeper than that.
Oh yes, you're clearly digging deep. Deep indeed.

LOL

6-1, and two games ahead in the race for HFA.

The offense is getting better every week, and the defense looks legit top 5.

Go find another team. This winning championships thing clearly doesn't do it for you.

Go **** yourself, Chris. I've been a Chiefs fan as long or longer than you, pal.

And there's no rule that says I have to be as homer-ish as you or anyone else. I don't give you grief for how you decide to be a fan, and it's pretty shitty for you to get personal with me just because I don't choose to be the same type of fan that you seem to be.

And now you seem to think you have some capacity to tell me I can't be a Chiefs fan? Where does this power come from, ****stick shit for brains asshole?

you better calm the **** down, hun.

I doubt it.

And I'm sick of your dishonest bullshit. You're a ****ing liar. You will twist, and cherrypick, and give bullshit backhanded compliments only when you absolutely are backed in to a corner.

You have become one of the WORST posters on this board. Because you're so wrapped up in your own egotistical wants, you can't see the forest for the trees.

You really should go be a Miami fan, because you are NEVER going to see that kind of firepower at WR ever again in KC, until Mahomes retires. It's not going to happen. You'll have to deal with #1 offenses like last year's #1 offense that you kept insisting wasn't REALLY the #1 offense despite literally being #1 in just about every meaningful metric. HOW TERRIBLE WAS THAT!?

You're a clown. I'd think you were literally trolling, but you're not that clever.

You literally have the best team in football that's getting better every week in front of you, and you pooh-pooh the whole ****ing thing.

You're the turd in the punchbowl.

*in interest of full disclosure-I misspoke above. The Chiefs are NOT two games ahead in HFA, until Miami loses tonight, in which case, they would be ahead by at least one game in the loss column, and another in tie-breakers.

To the best of my knowledge at the moment. If I'm wrong, please correct me. Unlike some people, I can admit when I'm wrong.

I just think it would be nice if you were a Chiefs fan who didn’t make up stats at times and cherrypick stats at other times to support your arguments.

That’s the only fan that I would like you to be on a message board that I frequent. Otherwise, I don’t for a second care for what type of fan you are.

Don't forget LITERALLY lying. Intentionally telling untruths. Definable, unquestionable falsehoods.

Somebody better calm down.

****stick shit for brains? Really? Very mature.

Go make up some more lies to spout, like how the Chargers are the worst defense in football again.

You really should go find another team, because you're SO unhappy with this one, and it's clearly not in the cards to ever make you happy. Miami's your squad bro, until they have to pay Tua. That's the team that's built the way you like it done.

Bitching endlessly, cherry picking stats, sometimes telling outright falsehoods to try to prove some point (style points, really), constant negativity when your team is the defending champ and 6-1 with a complete team capable of beating you in any and all phases of the game is ridiculous.

You don't want to win, you want a fantasy football star at WR. Winning just isn't the same without one for you.

You were a Tyreek Hill fan, and you stopped being a Chiefs fan when he left.

Its only a minor quibble, but regarding #4... Omenihu is going to have a bigger impact than Suggs and Dunlap combined

I was shocked at just how effective we was straight outta the gate

Even through a TV screen, you could feel the life temporarily being sucked out of Arrowhead when MEH carried the ball. He's like a vampire, but instead of sucking blood he sucks the enthusiasm out of a stadium. He also sucks plenty of penis.

CEH has to get some snaps to spell Pacheco. He had a handfull yesterday. The first carry he had no chance, no one would have. He dropped the flair pass by our goaline, which was good, as he would have lost a yard or two, and then he had a hard nosed carry for 6 yards. We are using him very little, but he needs to be used. It's a long season and he is a good pass blocker and rarely fumbles.
