Trip planning help

Thinking of planning a trip for the wife and I late this summer/fall.

She's about to get a pretty substantial promotion and I'd like to reward her for it.

We're going to Sweden for a wedding next spring and are gonna take a week or two to travel Europe a bit, so not really looking north eastern Europe area etc.

So give me some ideas, places you've been and enjoyed.

I've got an eye on Thailand but not sold.

Perhaps. But if some attributes are more important or less important, it could push him toward another destination.

Yeah, it sucked coming back home. I'm lucky that I can usually sleep on a plane.

Your question is so open ended.
  • What age bracket are you in?
  • Are you adventurous or do you prefer a relaxing vacation?
  • Any health issues with high altitudes or walking around town a problem for either of you?
  • Do you ski?
  • Do you scuba?
  • Do you sail?
  • Are you foodies?
  • Like privacy?
  • Like to gamble?
  • Like art, culture, and shows?
  • Big on music?
  • Speak any other languages?
  • Are you comfortable to drive in another country?
  • Any places you want to go for your heritage or ancestors?
  • Hobbies or sports?
You need to provide a little background to get the best recommendations.

I lived in Japan for a little over a year. It was amazing. I was in Okinawa, but I went to Osaka and Tokyo, and several smaller towns. It's a haul over there, so I'd make sure to take 10 days minimum, and I'd try to see Thailand while you were over there. Once you are in the far east, its fairly easy to get to the Phillipines, Taiwan, Thailand, etc.

I've wanted to go back ever since I left 20 years ago
