Life How do I tell my friend if he has a bad hygiene problem - Page 3

He just received his PHD in physics but he has not able to get a job. According to him, he had wonderful interviews but fell thru. One thing I notice that his teeth are somewhat yellow and the breath is overwhelming. How do I point this out to him without hurting his feeling?

Hey dude, I need to talk to you about something, and the only reason Im telling you is because I care about you, youa re my friend, I know you will do amazing things (in whatever he does) and you need to know for possible health reasons. Your breath is bad, like halitosis bad, which could be a more serious issue. Chewing gum, or a breath mint isnt going to help you. You need to see a doctor/dentist and find out whats wrong, because its getting in your way in the career field and could very well get in the way of the ladies. Im not rying to mean, Im trying to help you, and being honest is the only way I can help you,.

Thats basically what I said, and it worked. She thanked me, and went to and all kinds of things checked out, and I believe she has fixed the problem.

And see how he isnt getting the hint? I swear these people are dense. If Someone offers me a breath mint, i take it, and then take the hint, and I deal with it if need be.

The problem with halitosis (sp?) is it can be related to very serious conditions in his digestive system. He needs to have it checked.

How about the flip side of this...anyone ever done an interview with someone whose cologne/perfume was so strong you could smell it 5 minutes before they showed up?

I had a project manager at a former job who absolutely bathed in Axe, or some damn kind of body spray. Seriously. It made my nose hurt. He also was a snazzy dresser. He was a total blowhard and loved to hear himself talk. I could live with his poofy attitude, but that smell was so overpowering. I figured he must be compensating for some SERIOUS funk...

I shove cotton rolls soaked in Scope in my nose, then mask up. Burns a little, but does the trick.
