A txt conversation with a friend who's a lifelong Philly fan..

Overall, he likes Andy Reid and appreciates what he's done over the years. I feel that he's pretty much like most of us are about Marty. He's happy to see Reid go (like many of us were with Marty), but I've warned him that we've all learned sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for. Anyway, here were some of his points:

"Jamal Charles will never be as great a RB from this day forward as long as he is a Chief"

Me: "He can catch passes you know.."

"Andy reid will make the Chiefs meaningful in the league as long as the owner sticks with him. But you will question some of the personnel moves when drafting. You will win games but you will get sick of the fumbled time management at the end of halfs and end of games. You will get tired of hearing 'I have to be better putting the players in the right positions'.. You'll really get pissed at 3rd and short and Andy calls a deep route to a double covered receiver. That's gonna piss you off post."

Me: "Can't be worse than Marty running it up the center's azz on 3rd and long "

Me: "Oh, and 2-14"

He feels very strongly that no matter how awesome Charles is running the ball that he won't get the carries under Reid.

I just thought I'd share..

Charles 3 best years

carries - 705
receptions - 120

total touches - 825

Shady 3 best years

carries - 680
receptions - 180

total touches - 860

What is the problem here? This includes where Charles GOT 285 CARRIES in a 2-14 season where this entire forum said "That is way to much to be giving Charles coming off an injury in a shitty season with a terrible coaching staff"

This awful coaching staff and Brian Daboll ran Charles into the GROUND this season. Be thankful he even made it out because that crappy offense literally tried to kill his career.

Jamaal will still get the rock, but you will give a little in the run game for the pass game, and I mean, who gives a shit. Eagles fans just want to run Shady into the ground. Chiefs fans are the exact opposite with their guy

McCoy was top 10 in carries last year, the only season he has been completely healthy in the past 3.

If you combine his carries with Bryce Brown's this year, it is top 10 again. It's not just Michael Vick scrambles getting worked in.

Let's squash this notion that Jamaal will not be utilized...**** I'm sure pending injury he'll never have another 4 carry game under Reid that's for sure
Not trying to be a douche and quote myself but that thread got buried and this is still relevant

That may happen eventually, but for now, I'd take anything other than throwing it out in the flat on 3rd down.

What you are all failing to realize is that anyone who has watched Ried for 6 or whatever years knows he under utilizes his RB. Ignore the stupid stats that don't tell the full story.

SCENERIOR :

When it's 3 and 2 in the 4th quarter on a potential game winning drive and Charles Is avg 5yds a carry but Baldwin is dropping every pass thrown his way and the chiefs line up in a shotgun empty backfield and throw to Baldwin across the middle incomplete, that is when you will understand what we're saying about not utilizing a star RB.

Grassy-ass, seen-your. I was just curious if the stats were legit.

Glad they were, this is good news.

Always more info buried in stats some explainable and some not. I was just doing a quick check to see what all the fuss was. I am much to lazy to dig deep.

Don't look at me. I'm the guy's biggest fan. I wanted him starting from the day he got here.

I admit that is in part because I always loathed that woman beating wanna-be-thug piece of shit Larry Johnson, but it was also because I thought Charles was highly undervalued as an NFL prospect. I viewed him as a potential elite talent.

For ONCE, I was right, so I'm a huge fan and so forth. I know that's in response to a ridiculous thread... but still.

I loved Glenn Dorsey too obv that worked out less well.

They didnt have to endure what a Chiefs fan has, with consistent losing seasons, coaching, staff, FO changes, etc. This year was the first year in like 14 years the Eagles had a true blue LOSING season. Nobody counts that down year with Mike McMahon or whatever that bozos name was. This year was a real stinker for them, and for most Eagles fans, that was a first experience for them.
Well, the fan base overreacted to Reid calling for his head in the way they did. But there are lots of Eagles fans who are telling us what to expect from Reid in a really intelligent way. The text in the OP is pretty spot on. Terrific coach who's going to make some head scratching decisions on game day.

Yes and no. As I've said before... one of the challenges with Reid is that he's going to build one hell of a team, but you have to hope that team is good enough to overcome the fact that in a playoff stretch, he's probably going to shoot himself in the foot plenty of times.
