Debit card issue

So I had to get a new debit card. It works about half the time. Say declined the other half. Lots of money in the account. Credit union says nothing is wrong. I end up having to use my backup credit card instead. Any of you ever had this issue?

Of course the drawback is if you don't pay the balance every month, you'll pay 29.99% interest. As long as you have sufficient cash flow, its a great deal.

I use a Capital One card for everything that doesn't cost me a fee to use the card. It allows me to better track and budget my expenses.

We once traveled to Maui and paid for the airfare, rental car and lodging all on the rewards.

We are planning a trip to Europe soon and intend to fly business class on our rewards.

In the long run it's impossible.

For nearly all of us...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Our number got stolen in a Home Depot hack several years ago. Someone used that number to make about $1600 dollars worth of purchases. That's money right out of.your checking account. Fortunately for.us we had more than enough in the account to cover other bills. But if you don't it will create a whole other set of issues.

Sure the bank is required to replace your stolen funds but it is not instantaneous. With a credit card that's the card issuers money and it's their problem.
This is what I learned recently on here.

I froze my credit and use a credit card on all purchases now instead of a debit card.

This has been a hard change to make as I have always been a cash guy and debit card seemed like the next best thing.

Check to make sure it's not one of those left-handed cards. Those almost always malfunction

You have to wait till the card reader says APPROVED. Card will decline if you pull card early. Should take a few seconds for the APPROVED showing on the screen.

Yep. We make all our purchases with a credit card that earns miles. I honestly don’t understand why more people don’t do this or a card that earns cash back.

I can pay for daycare with a credit card. My wife and I are churning sign up bonuses and earn 10%+ back with every purchase. Takes a bit of the sting out.

Why would people use a debit card rather than a credit card? Serious question. I haven't had a debit card in like ten years.

Some people are adverse to using credit. Some can't without overspending
