Ask Staylor, suggesting they’ll do any more than adding a single WR apparently means you think this is Madden by thinking KC will add 4 new WRs to the roster.

We will wait to see how the playoffs pan out but if the receivers cost us a game in the postseason Veach better make it right to the tune of a Mike Evans/Tee Higgins free agent signing in addition to a move into the top 20 for a first round wide receiver. Let Mahomes/Reid cook again. I dont want to see Kelce go out on an underwhelming offense.

He bypassed every opportunity to upgrade the WR position this year… including before the trade deadline… so, yes there is skepticism.

By the trade deadline the Chiefs WR position was already being exposed as an epic failure… and yet Veach did nothing (Hardman is not a significant attempt to upgrade the WR failures).

And who was available at the trade deadline? Highly doubt Hopkins was after that big game from their rookie QB. Was there any proof of any capable WR being on the block?

Also NFL trade deadline is pretty blah. There's hardly ever a big name trade unless you overpay (see Christian McCaffrey).

Mike Evans would be incredible, 1000 yard season every season he’s played. Probably the most underrated WR of this generation.

I don't think Staylor has said any such thing.

I know I haven't.

Veach has always been aggressive about fixing problem areas.

I would expect that MVS is gone, and we'll see at least one vet (my guess is that Mooney would be a good fit, and has worked in the system already) and a high draft pick (meaning a #1 or a #2).

Moore, Toney, Watson all probably go to camp, two of the three probably make the team. None are expensive, none are expensive to cut.

It's possible that in addition to one middle-class FA like a Mooney type, there might be a bargain bin vet as well.

And that's probably what we're looking at. The defense will not be as good next year, because you're more than likely missing Jones and probably Gay. Tranquill will be cheaper to bring back. Sneed will make bank, you either pay it or tag and trade.

It'll be a lot different.

...

They're not going to cut Moore next year, even though they should. And if they improve the offense to something resembling the past, the defense can be good enough.

Depends.

They're not going to cut him out of spite, no.

He won't be some sort of sacred cow, though, either.

Spite has nothing to do with it. He's not good enough to play in this offense. He should be treated as if he has to fight to make the team next year.

I agree veach will address it in a big way. and it doesn’t need to be as far reaching as we think.

I think we go heavy offense in the draft. Thankfully we can probably build around wanya. Make an aggressive move for the best WR1 in the draft even it involves a REASONABLE trade up. Draft a TE weapon. Use the back of the draft to find a tank dell type or a wr/rb flex. Use the back of the draft to find OL depth so we can start to transition off thuney or trey to save money.

I would still like to see a bandaid and you can justify that by cutting Mvs. I don’t think we have to overspend. At the same time I feel like it’s going to be a great market for “value” WRs like Mooney and maybe even Ridley or Pittman. I don’t think we’ll be set back in other areas. It’s just a long overdue season where we put all our attention (mostly through the draft) on the offense.

I doubt very seriously they'll trade up. They have 5 picks as it is.
