Let's Talk About the Eagles (Super Bowl 59 Discussion)

We're headed back to the Ship and will try to be the first team to 3-peat in Super Bowl history!!! Chiefs open up as 1.5 favorites over the Eagles.

Discuss.

and don't forget...

I'm confident in saying that if the conditions are better, the Rams are in the Super Bowl, not the Eagles.
I don’t think the conditions need to be any better.

Just need to not let Jalen Carter run completely free on the most important play of the game. TE was wide the **** open. Stafford just needed more than a second.

Agreed.

Those conditions so heavily favored Philly that it's a been shocking that it came down to the wire like it did. Or that it took a complete implosion from Kevin Dotson for them to hang on at the end.

Then again, I think the Rams are a LOT better than their record.

Maybe they see how it goes. If Jalen Carter is completely blowing up Caliendo on the inside during the first half, maybe they do an emergency move to put Thuney at LG and hope like hell that Humphries can do a solid job as the LT.

In SB55 the Bucs ran this same gameplan but got all world play against an OL with 4 backup OL, a RT playing LT and a RG playing RT.

I just don’t see how that works this time.

This is the first game in a long while where the interior seems like it's quite a bit more dangerous than the EDGE players.

It'll be interesting. Humphries might end up being a savior in the end, despite not showing much in his reps so far. He's a veteran guy who always wanted to win a Super Bowl. Well...he might get his chance to play a key role pretty damn soon.

Super encouraging to see those stats posted by Run because I was coming to this thread to play a little devil's advocate.

Keysor mentioned it first so credit to him, but Philly isn't going to play as much man as Buffalo did. Their secondary is really really good, they'll do the standard Fangio thing trying to keep a lid on the top and they'll rally downhill fast. They close underneath better than any defense we have played this year.

So we are most likely going to need to protect Patrick for longer periods of time unless Andy and co. cook up an absolute heater of a game plan to get them on their heels early.

Didn’t Mahomes have turf toe or something, too?

They have a pretty long history of cooking Fangio.

We beat him a lot, but I don't know that we've just totally lit him up as an offense every time. There were some ugly ones vs. Denver at times.

It'll come down to the players as always.

I don’t think people understand how bad it is for the Eagles so let me show you:

Total pressures:

Chiefs-171 (6th)
Eagles-111 (28th)

Pressure %:

Chiefs-26.1 (5th)~less than half a % from tying 3rd
Eagles-17.9% (28th)~over 1% less than 27th

Hurries:

Chiefs-59 (7th)
Eagles-29 (31st)

Hurry %:

Chiefs-9 % (6th)
Eagles-4.7% DEAD LAST

QB Knock Downs:

Chiefs-73 best in NFL
Eagles-41 (Tied for 24th)

QB Knock Down %:

Chiefs: 12.8% (2nd)
Eagles: 7.6% (22nd)

Blitzes:

Chiefs-207 (6th)
Eagles-118 (27th)

Blitz %:

Chiefs-31.6% (4th)
Eagles-19.1%(28th)

The Chiefs were top 5 in all these stats throughout the season and the only reason they weren’t overall on some of the now is bc we gave them the game off in Denver which lowered our stats. We didn’t blitz one time that game.

The Eagles defense does not blitz. And the number show what I think is true: they are largely dependent on Jalen Carter’s talent and everyone else is not that great.
