Despite what people here might consider lucky bounces for Purdy and the 49ers, we really should be taking them way more seriously. All it takes is CMC having a big game, which he very easily could, or underestimating Purdy and letting him play free football all day long to put us in serious trouble.

Reminds me of the 2019 Chiefs making those comebacks and playing with a fearlessness and belief that they could come back no matter what. Thats a dangerous thing to fight against.

When San Fran gets going they can be formidable. But, so can we.

When you look at the 49ers, they are a drastically heavy zone team. Only the Bengals and Saints were more heavily zone teams. They don't have a lot of talent on the back end, and their front 4 pass rush is not THAT special this year, though Bosa is still a heavy game-wrecker (but one KC has shown it can handle/neutralize, even with Austin Wylie as his primary pass blocker).

This Chiefs offense is just not going to struggle against zone. Kelce is too good. Mahomes is too good. Rice is too good against it. Reid's scheme absolutely blowtorches cover 3.

I expect the Chiefs to efficiently and effectively move the ball. If the 49ers go to man, I don't think they have an effective answer for Kelce between their personnel and lack of reliance on man concepts.

It will come down to whether the 49ers offense - which is, admittedly, absolutely loaded at the skill positions - can do the same to the Chiefs defense. I expect it to have more success than the Ravens because their talent level is higher and Brock Purdy is a more competent passer than Lamar Jackson.

I think the Chiefs can get home against the 49ers OL outside of Trent Williams. The question is, I guess, if they can do enough against the 49ers run game to get stops.

Chiefs offense is going to put up 27-30 points, I feel. If the Chiefs' D ends the season not having allowed more than 27 points in a game, pretty confident the Chiefs win.
For SF I think two players that will have the biggest impact on whether they win or not will be CMC on offense and Young on defense.

The offense runs through CMC and limiting him will force them to throw it which plays into KCs biggest strength.

Bosa is a game wrecker and KC will account for him. If Young plays up to his potential, that could make everyone’s job much harder.

The issue the 49ers is going to have is that they have a couple real trouble spots on their OL.

LG and RT are pretty ugly, IMO. LG especially.

And Spags will absolutely put Jones wherever he has to be in order to abuse some hapless, overmatched OL.

You could utilize a 2-man rush plan around Karlaftis at LDE and Jones playing inside/outside (which Karlaftis can also do) and really create problems for the 49ers.

What they absolutely have to do is run the ball and get the screen game working to slow that down. Because the OL, in obvious passing situations, is going to get smoked by Spags/Cullen and his ability to create mis-matches.

Agree on this, for sure. Schematically, the 49ers defense just does not match up well at all with the Chiefs offense.

Our two best offensive weapons feast on zone, Rice and Kelce. The more man they play the more Watson and MVS have to be involved.

I am so confident.

I agree for SF, it comes down to McCaffery. That last drive they had though, he went straight down on his C-spine. That tackle was nasty. Chiefs D needs to pile drive him like that. But not really. Saw him on the bench getting some treatment after.

Purdy’s a good game manager. I am still somewhat in shock they were able to overcome that 7-24 deficit. It took an incredible play by Aiyuk just to set the table. SF is a good team, but the Chiefs are a better team.

And they’re just … in the way.

He got a lot of help from Detroit's reckless game management in Sunday's comeback.

They didn't make comebacks due to great performances, the Lions literally shit in their pants.

If the play the exact game against the Chiefs they played against GB or Detroit they'll get beat down.

Definitely true. But that guy was part of the comeback. He was doing it with his arm and legs.

Typical game managers like Cousins or Dak can't bring you back from a deficit like that against a good team, Purdy did.

I think he's for sure elevated himself from Game Manager status after that game.

It helped that the Lions defense is slow as shit. And who knew launching a ball into a defenders face would somehow be a good play.

One interesting fact is....

PURDY HASN'T PLAYED A PLAYOFF GAME ON THE ROAD YET.

He started the Philly game yes, but was injured on the first possession. So he hasn't played a road game yet. And I know folks said this about Pat but Pat obviously played in three superbowls before going to Buffalo a week ago. So this is gonna be a totally new experience for Brock just like it will be for the majority of that roster.
