Worth remembering the Chiefs offense was still very good without Mitch Schwartz at RT. They scored 38 points in a conference title game without Schwartz. It was the loss of Eric Fisher at LT that killed them in the Super Bowl right after that.

With that in mind, $20M per year for Jawaan Taylor at RT was a mistake. Rather have Orlando Brown at $22-23M per year at LT mixed with "whoever" at Right Tackle, and play the void year game if you need to do it to make the salary cap work.
Apparently Lurie is way more willing to part with cash than Clark is.

Yep. It’s clear whatever the process for their decision making on OBJ was needs to be reevaluated.

From his interviews with the Bengals he’s hinted at clashing with Burkholder’s and Reid’s philosophy, so it’s possible that was more of a contributor to letting him go.

But man, it may have been worth keeping him around regardless.

Shut the **** up about Brown, please and thanks. He was absolutely atrocious in 2023 directly leading to Burrow getting injured and missed almost half of 2024 being a brokedick.

Agreed, letting OBJ go is looking like more of a mistake now after this loss and after having no real solution to the position. Using his money on Taylor always seemed questionable at the time but it was hard to complain about it when we were winning SBs.

Yes, I am holding Mahomes to an impossible standard because he keeps raising the bar. This was the first time he has completely crumbled in the playoffs.
I’m just not sure what he could do. This isn’t josh Allen getting tripped up by blitz packages. Philly could sit their back 7 in coverage, not worry about the run and stop it anyway, while we were undermanned because we needed so much help to stop 4 rushers. All philly had to do was play prevent with a very short field and with less than a few seconds to execute. It’s no wonder after a while mahomes was just chucking shit up and praying it would find someone

That’s where I give Veach a ton of grace with his handling of the offensive tackles.

Having both tackles set and then losing both to career ending injuries is almost impossible to fix quickly. Yes, I know Fisher played after with the Colts but his career here was done.

Granted, more work to be done and I wouldn’t give Veach a great grade so far on it. However, normally you see guys have a more steady decline and you draft their replacements early for them to learn.

Losing both just like that was devastating. It’s honestly hard to believe the Chiefs went to 3 and won 2 Super Bowls AFTER that.

They've managed to win 6 Playoff games the last two years, including a Super Bowl win and a conference title. That's pretty amazing given the poop show at Left Tackle.

At minimum it seems maybe they should have given Donovan Smith another chance this season. Pretty big mistake trusting Kingsley & Wanya...then hoping like hell that Humphries & Thuney could get the job done. It almost worked...almost lol

Taylor was great in the postseason last year and really good in the postseason this year before last night.

We can criticize him but still give credit where it’s due.

Looking at Pat in his postgame interview you can tell the guy was devastated. If this experience makes him a better QB longterm then so be it. I'll take it. He said he hadn't played well for most of the season and that stuff showed itself in the game. I think he's gonna work his tail off in the offseason amd become better for it. Study better. Fundamentals, mechanics. He'll look to improve them all hopefully. Can't just work with Bobby and that's it.

Hell, wasn't that fat **** Walladorf OBJ the one that got Mahomes ankle all ****ed up against the Jaguars? Then he turns around the next season and crushes Burrows wrist by being a 360 pound pylon.

We've turned the most dynamic Quarterback talent in NFL history to a dink and donk system QB

The pressure of the 3 peat has vanished. He's gonna go YOLO next season and sling that thing all over the field. Nothing to lose anymore

Mahomes has had no choice but to play Alex ball the last 2 years bc his offensive talent went down the shitter.

Losing McKinnon was a huge deal. He had NINE TD’s in 2022. Travis Kelce becoming old and not a consistent player anymore became a huge deal, OL issues were there in 2022 but became a bigger problem than OBJ presented with young LT’s.

They need to get explosive players and an OL early. Just have to.

Mahomes would’ve had weapons this year. Rice and Brown going down early really ****ed things up.

This year could’ve looked very different if Mahomes gets in rhythm with Rice and Brown early. As teams start adjusting, Worthy then starts to emerge.

I can’t fault Veach too much for the skill players this year. That could’ve/should’ve been a strong group of receivers.
