*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

I mean, statistically they were almost identical. Both surrendered above 50% pressure rate. The OL was really, really, REALLY bad last night.

Yeah, panicking at times when the rush really wasn't an issue, dropping his head to say **** it without keeping an eye downfield like we're used to seeing when he's locked in, scrambling straight ****ing into the rush.

Any chance of keeping the game close and flipping the switch was gone with the two picks in the first half.

Even if the offense continued to punt, the defense likely keeps the game 10-0 or maybe 13-0 going into half.

With getting the second half kickoff, that actually would’ve been fairly encouraging.

People were talking about a Chiefs blowout victory last week and I mentioned how much stuff has to happen for that to be true... multiple turnovers with quick scores or really short fields, etc.

And yeah, that happened.

Even 17-0, just put points on the board before halftime and then get your shit together and maybe it's 17-10 early in the 3rd. They were shutting down Barkley and the defense was doing pretty damn well getting the Eagles to 3rd and long, so they'd at least have a chance at that point.

It was sort of an exaggerated version of the Green Bay game for the Eagles.

Green Bay was good defensively in that one, but couldn’t stop turning the ball over.

Both games could/should have been closer than they were.

I think it's more about andy. Veach has done well with the limited resources he's had. Spags has done well with limited resources. The offense has been rough for 2 years now. Time to get back to the drawing board andy. Identify your team's strengths and perfect them. What's our bread and butter? Mahomes going god mode?

Eagles didn’t end up blitzing a single time, with significantly less talented pass rushers, going up against significantly more talented offensive linemen.

I think last night’s performance was worse for the OL than the Tampa SB given the circumstances.

Highest pressure rate on a QB by a DL in a SB from 2006-2025 per PFF:

Mahomes 2020-55.4%
Matt Ryan 2016-53.6%
Cam Newton 2015-50%
Tom Brady 2011-46.5%
Eli Manning 2007-44.7%
Tom Brady 2007-43.4%
Jared Goff 2018-42.9%
Joe Burrow 2021-42.9%
Patrick Mahomes 2019-41.2%

The only QB’s on this list who won their games are Patrick Mahomes and Eli Manning, and Eli Manning is an outlier bc as you can see the Patriots and Giants are both on this list for the same game, so somebody had to win.

Mahomes pressure rate dropped to 38% bc the Eagles called off the dogs. The first half Mahomes was pressured on 47% of his drop backs which would have had him at 4th on this list.

No QB is winning when thy are pressured this badly

Really not sure about that. Could blame Andy for not having a more balanced offense maybe, even for a poor game-plan. But Veach gave him Kingsley, Morris and latterly DJ at LT. He signed Taylor to that contract. That wasn't inevitable, it may have been a collection of justifiable decisions and dice-rolls, but it definitely didn't provide what was needed.

Would you like to go take a look at late 1st round, 2nd and 3rd round OT's and then come back?

That is literally exactly what you get from OT's taken there.

Mahomes is 3-2 in his first 5 Super Bowls. Tom Brady was 3-2 in his first 5 SB’s. Just sayin

The problem was Mahomes was shook.

Team played like ass during the Tampa Bay super bowl but Mahomes went down swinging. This Super Bowl Mahomes was one of the biggest issues.

Never thought I would see him unravel like that on the biggest stage. Like it or not his legacy took a big hit last night.

The really unbelievable part of Brady’s career is winning 4 more so late.

If Mahomes wants to catch Brady in rings (which we need to acknowledge is an incredibly high bar), he really can’t have the draught in the middle of his career.

He’s going to need to win one every few seasons or have another mini-dynasty in by his mid-30’s.

I just can’t assume anyone will have Brady longevity
