Off Season Lets Talk Guns, Part 2

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Good AKs. Romanian, Zastava,Tula ect are fetching 1500.00 on up..
On its best day. Its a 500.00 gun
You can get way better platforms. For that kind of money. But if its the only thing that gonna scratch the itch ?( been there may times) Gun Broker and then find an FFL. And have it shipped there.

Finding ammo could be a bit of a challenge as well. I know stuff is pretty dried up out there and if you find it, prices are obnoxious.

Avoid Century Arms. Their AKs are shit.

Mine's an International Ordinance. Not bad for a cheaper model - IIRC I paid $500 for it several years ago. It ain't the most accurate rifle in the world, but it goes bang every time and I've never had a problem with it. Saiga is one of the best brands, but you pay for it. Especially now, I'm sure.

The pickings are slim with a possible gun ban on the horizon.

You'll need to go to all the local gun shops and pawn shops. You can also look at listings on armslist.com.

If you do find something, expect to pay 2 or 3 times what they would normally go for. Don't be shocked to see prices in the $1,000 - $1,500 range.

Also, check out some of these online vendors:

Ruger Mini 30 shoots the 7.62x39
For what they are asking for AKs you can get yourself a nice M1 carbine that will holds its value if and when things get back to normal.. 30 carbine ammo I still see on the shelves around here.

You could also look for an SKS, preferably one that hasn't been molested.

Its the same caliber as an AK, has a much softer recoil, and should be cheaper.

Dad has one that he bought EPIC cheap in the early 2000s. Pretty much the gun he grabs if he's going to shoot something these days.

I remember when they were selling those at $79 a pop. I wish I would have bought cases.

NPAP or WASR 10 is the bare minimum. I have an NPAP, it's a cool looking rifle but I don't really like it. Uncomfortable to shoot (underfolder) and it's a picky bitch with magazines (didn't know til I brought it home)

If we weren't in this current political climate I'd offer it to you.
