*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Coaching matters. Just like ****holes like Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards were never going to get anywhere because nobody ever got better under his tutelage. Ever.

Dude needed a dude to help him grow. Got it with Shanarat Jr and O'Connell.
I remember hearing about the Herm Edwards hire from one of my connections at 810 2 years before it happened, I was not happy.

That's an interesting thought experiment.

They're probably not in a much different place this year, still dealing with the fallout of that catastrophic Trey Lance trade/pick. But if they pay Purdy, which all indications are they will, they might be better off moving forward. Even if Darnold isn't the Justin Jefferson version of Darnold.

The Trey Lance fiasco doesn't get near enough pub in the NFL zeitgeist.

Chalk it up to another team imploding because of Mahomes.

Hard to believe but his run may already be half over. I hope not but a 16 year career isn't the norm. More and more common these days but you never know.

His eyes will glow and he'll spark when he throws 'cause you don't get a 2nd chance at winning 3 (4) in a row. That climb is impossibly hard...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

If the Chiefs pull off the 3-peat, it’s really the highest peak in NFL history.

There are zero feats that compare. Every team would trade their single greatest moment for it.

And even better, hard to imagine a team breaking that record. Winning 4 straight? No happening, unless it’s the Chiefs in 2026.

It feels like system and coaching play a huge part of that and arguably guys like darnold, baker, goff fit that mold nicely. Particularly teams like these that love to use their TEs and RBs. I'd say burrow too but he's a lot more scheme proof.

After what we saw from guys like stroud I'm real curious to see if he has a back to back in him. Good reason to keep McCarthy around for insurance
Well we already got to see it. Darnold is a slow processor, so play man and blitz him because he can't get rid of the ball quickly or anticipate throws well enough. Even when he had protection he was lost.

He looked like a system guy who doesn't read the field well and needs to be micromanaged.

Which is why the Vikings should trade him if they can tag and trade and get something decent for him. He's not THE GUY.
