What is really annoying to me about this whole Cyborg thing is that I don't think it would be a particularly close fight, especially at 135. She punches hard with the help of PED's. OK, whatever, we've seen no indication at all that she would avoid getting thrown or taken down and then submitted. Right now, she's beating up on undersized opponents who should be bantamweights, while Cyborg is on the very large end of 145. Her only chance against Rousey would be landing some wild unlikely shot before the clinch. I don't think the fight "needs to happen".
If the fight did happen though, it would be nice if so many idiots bet on Cyborg that we got good odds on Rousey.

I bet Rousey makes a shit ton more doing movies than the UFC pays her.

She's not there yet though, if the movie bombs then she'll just get small roles.

Early estimates for the PPV, which aside from Rousey was a decimated crappy card, are about 650k-700k buys.
Holy shit. That is insane. I think we can put that whole "Rousey isn't a draw, no one likes women's MMA" thing to bed. edit: Rousey is reportedly going to get about an extra $1MM because of the PPV buys.

How much of that is before they cancelled Weidman/Belfort?

These are PPV buys, not ticket sales. Almost all PPV buys are purchased day of, and what little that isn't day of is week of. I'm not even sure if you could order the PPV when the card lost Weidman. Some people had been pointing at Weidman as the reason for selling out Staples, but the PPV buys are harder to explain away.

My mistake, thought it was ticket sales.
Where did those numbers come from? |

Also, the peripheral numbers were very good. For ratings the 184 prelims were the 3rd-highest in the FS1 era. 222,000 people watched the Friday weigh-in which is the 2nd-highest for a FS1 UFC weigh-in trailing only the 168 weigh-in.

There wasn't even a particular "must see" fight on the prelims was there...? Crazy.
