On right now....kind of. JTV wasn't satisfied with using a camera with a vaseline smeared lense, now they made the game completely unwatchable. Add to it Gurley and Armstrong.....ugh.

Not watching, but KU up 7-4.

What a great game! Cornell is a quality team; I wouldn't want to face them in March.

This is exactly what KU needed. I was starting to worry that lack of close game experience would hurt come tournament time.

Sherron finally had his moment to put the team on his back and carry them to a win.

Other than Temple, I haven't been this pumped after a game this season.

But back to the topic at hand...

You said KU would never lose a game this closely...Cornell is good, but not that good. And KU had them at home and clearly should have dominated them....even other 'Hawks fans have acknowledged that it was closer than it should have been.

I wouldn't say they should have dominated them, and it's ridiculous to say any team will never be upset or play down to their competition... maybe if the expectation is to play like the #1 team in the country every minute of every game, but that's a pretty ridiculous expectation for a group of college kids. There's a lot more parity in CBB now, mixed in with down games by the top teams, so it's not black and white.

Well, technically before last nights game, Cornell was the #2 3 point shooting team in the country just ahead of KU - now they've swapped places.

I'm sick and tired of hearing people (KU fans and others) talking about how great a team is from 3 point range and that's why they mysteriously lost. It's part of the game. Do you hear anyone snidely talking about how an NFL team lost because the opposing kicker is money from beyond the 40? NO. Because it's part of the ****ing game. Don't like it, defend it better.

By the way, quit talking yourselves into how great Cornell really is. They lost to Seton Hall at home, and almost lost to the Alabama team that KU fans kept telling us wasn't very good.

He was just pointing out that Cornell isn't a pushover, and they're not... he wasn't convincing himself or anyone else that it was magic, and it's not a moot point.

If they normally play teams that aren't in the top 5 of 3 point shooting and beat them by 20+, what do you think the outcome will be when they play someone in the top 5?

They aren't a pushover, but it's the tried and true formula.....KU fans talk smack, how they're gonna kill and opponent, how the opponent sucks, then when it's a close game or they lose, it's all about trap games, officials, and how good the opponent was

I will give you credit, there was a lot less official bashing last night than usual.

I'm sure if you take any top 25 team and put Cornell on their schedule, there would be a lot of fans from each team who would assume a 20+ point win.

There were also people in this thread talking about how it was going to be a tough game, before the game or early into it.

Like I posted earlier, there's quite a bit of parity in CBB, mixed in with top teams sleepwalking through games or just having a bad night, and I don't think some people get that... so when it happens, everyone wants an explanation, and you listed 3 of them. Maybe it's because Cornell isn't as bad as people assumed, maybe KU overlooked them a little, maybe Cornell played above themselves because they were on the road against #1, maybe Kansas was just a bit off, maybe Kansas is still learning, or maybe all of the above and then some....... doesn't matter to me, as the season wouldn't have ended had they lost, and they needed to be taken down to the wire.

And its the tried and true formula....KU haters show up to talk about how shitty the opponent was, how overrated KU is, and call KU fans arrogant for expecting to win.

It was a great game against a quality opponent, and gave KU some close game experience. The officiating could have been better, but overall both teams got away with some stuff, and as you said, its part of the game.

These types of games are exactly what Self needs to emphasize his defense-first philosophy. When the shots don't fall, you gotta rely on your D.
