Okay, here is a place for the Golfers to talk about tournaments, clubs, swing help or thoughts.

Today is the Players Championship, which I think ought to be the 5th Major. Largest pot in the PGA. The daunting 17th, which seems to bring excitement every year. At least we will get to see Sergio blow up yet again.

I am ready to see some water balls!

Yes the Duff-man was a great call. I didn't think he'd do well in successive weeks (players rarely do) but he and Stenson defnintely disproved that trend. Tiger of course couldn't shake it. My pick Dustin went T-8 with Rory but was never a factor, getting off to a slow start on Thursday. That course was set up beautifully for him. I'm not sure if he (or Hunter) will get it done at a major but I do believe eventually both will break thru.

My pick before the tourney started was Henrik Stenson. He's got a great game, but his putting really failed him at times this weekend.

A side note. Topeka native Gary Woodland made the record books on Sunday.
From the Lawrence Journal-World:

On the PGA tour website, the first sentence of the description for No. 13, Oak Hill’s signature hole, reads: “This hole has never been reached in two shots, but that could change during the tournament, as someone with two fantastic shots might run one up on the green.”

That someone turned out to be Woodland, whose tee shot crossed a creek that runs across the fairway 300 yards from the tee box. On the first three days of the tournament, Woodland did what players normally do. He teed off with an iron to lay up short of the creek.

“I missed the drive a little bit, kind of hit it off the heel, but it just got over, just into the first cut (of rough),” Woodland said. “I was going to go for it no matter what today. I hit a hard 3-wood (second shot), hit a really good shot. I didn’t know I got there until I got up on the green and saw it in the middle of the green.”

Dufner did that last year too when he won his two tournaments during the same run.

He has to pull a 'Dufnering' next to the trophy, doesn't he?

Poulter: Fan kicked out for 'Baba Booey' shout

Ian Poulter in the 2013 Volvo World Match Play Championship third round

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – After some recent harsh criticism of fans who scream at golf tournaments – especially those who scream the Howard Stern-inspired “Baba Booey” – it was believed that Ian Poulter would be a target for more such treatment from outside the gallery ropes on Thursday afternoon.

It didn’t happen, though, he reported.

Poulter tweeted after the round:

The good news of today was only 1 donut shouted out Baba Booey and he was swiftly removed from the premises.

Any of you guys got the v2 system yet?

I'm working on some things after seeing my swing on there. I was really stiff in the knees and bent over at the waist, which was making it hard for me to get back down in plane after taking it outside on the way back.

I've found that more knee flex has allowed my spine to be a little more upright and I can keep it the same, angle wise, all the way thru. It's helped me get really back on plane on the way back, which makes it easier (less movement) on the way down. Also helps me keep from getting loose at the top

Comparing tournament wins and major wins. A nice little Chiefs reference that made me post the link.

In the 1990s, the Kansas City Chiefs won 101 games, one of only four NFL teams to do so, and made the playoffs seven times. Were the 1990s Chiefs a great team? Nobody thinks so, not even people in Kansas City. They didn’t win a Super Bowl. They didn’t reach a Super Bowl. For most football fans, greatness comes with Super Bowl championships (and semi-greatness can come by finishing runner up in the Super Bowl – the Buffalo Bills won 103 games in the 1990s, lost four Super Bowls, and some do think of them as a great team).

Damn, someone is a Raider fan.

But yeah, in golf lingo, the 90's Chiefs are like Lee Westwood, pretty good and top 10 player, but no major championships to speak of (yet).

Hadn't hit a ball for two weeks till yesterday a when I walked 10 holes. Wasn't very good and today I was almost not going to go to the course but in the end I made myself go. I played 9 and made 3 birdies and an eagle. I made a bogey so I shot a 4 under 32.

Jim Furyk just threw up a 59 at the BMW Championship. With a bogey.

6th player ever on the PGA Tour, in the playoffs, and on a course that a lot of guys were struggling on today.

Scorecard on ESPN now showing an 8 for Tiger on Hole 1. Brings him to -4. What was this about?

Not sure. Heard on Golf Channel that he had to take a penalty, but they haven't elaborated yet since Furyk is in the media room.
