Off Season Lets Talk Guns, Part 2
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.


Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?



Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

And I agree, while I shoot 9mm and 30-06 today, my heart is still with .45 and .308. But the .308 may have to wait even longer now that I've discovered .270.

Oh, I hear you and I agree completely. Hell, the 9 is ok, I mean I get along with the round just fine but like you, my heart is with the .45...

On a side note, I'm damned glad I stocked up well a year or so back with the 45 ammo...well, hell, the .45, the 9mm, the .380, the 5.56 and the 7.62 and the 7mm. I sleep much better at night..

LOL, my son send me a pic of a shoulder shot on a deer with a 7mm round. His comment was pretty-much, "you said it was a mean round....."

A very powerful round.

My memory doesn't serve me as well today as it did 10 years ago, so if this is a repeat - sorry...

My Dad bought 3, 7mm German Army Mausers from K-Mart back in 63?-64? straight out of a barrel of cosmolene in the store for $25 per. WWII models. He completely refinished them from the ground up - made them absolutely beautiful.

He kept one, gave my Brother and I one. Over the years, I don't know what happened to my Fathers' rifle (he may have sold it years later) and my Brother gave his to his 2 year old - before he headed to Viet Nam. His Son took possession some 10-12 years later when he passed.

I still have mine and cherish it every day. When I wanted to hit a deer at distance, I dial in the Leupold and take it out. Venison in the freezer and the rifle never lets me down. Of all my weapons - that damned old Mauser means the most to me. One day my Son will inherit it.

Much like trading cars, you're never going to get good value on trading a gun at a store. I remember when I tried to trade a little snubnose .38, and what they offered was ridiculous. I ended up selling it to a buddy and got a much better price.
