I actually feel sorry for him. Hey, at least he might get to see a September win for once. It would be hard to emerge winless from a slate vs the Giants, Jaguars and Jets. |

Fangio is going to start gameplanning too, you know. They haven't shown any of the Surtain stuff that they were working on in training camp yet. They're just playing vanilla defense and beating folks on sheer talent. |

It’s an offensive league. Chiefs blasted the Buccaneers last year in their first meeting when our OL wasn’t all injured.
Broncos will have to have all the breaks to beat us. Even then it’s not likely unless we get catastrophic injuries again. This is the Alex Smith Chiefs vs Peyton Manning Broncos in 2014 except it’s our turn. It’s almost the exact same situation

You know Denver is giving up 34+ each time we play them. Excited to watch a historically great offense shred a paper tiger.

Sorry, not impressed. You are because this kind of stuff matters to last place teams.

Elway and any other GM out there would have given up entirely and attempted to trade Chris Jones. The Chiefs kept him and every other important player to that Super Bowl team except for Fuller (who was shown to be easily replaceable and perhaps even upgraded by Veach's killer 4th round selection of L'jarius Sneed) And I haven't even brought up the beautiful work of art that is Patrick Mahomes' contract extension. Something so complicated and layered and beneficial to the team that the NFL has never seen before. Something tells me if George Paton were our GM during these years, we'd be looking at already doling out the mega millions to Mahomes while unable to fill in gaps through the draft because we were drafting in the back ends of the rounds. Chris Jones wouldn't be a Chief, we'd still be in cap trouble, and as a result, our defense would be looking pretty ****ing weak. And don't get me started on how Paton would have chosen to help fix the OL with injuries to both bookends. He probably would have just gone the conventional route and gradually built up through the draft, attempting to fix with a toothpick that which needed a sledgehammer. Very likely he'd take a Chargers approach, waiting for a bad injury to collapse his team's season so he could get a top 10 draft pick for a season or two in order to fill in those holes that he couldn't fill without top 10 picks. Don't get me wrong, without those hypothetical injuries we'd still be competitive because we have Mahomes, but we'd be a Seattle-type competitive. Look great against weak teams, get our shit pushed in by tough teams because our defense just sucks too much and our OL still wouldn't be fixed. That's the difference between Veach and Paton. Veach innovates. He thinks outside the box. And he fixes problems that need fixing in a single offseason. Paton looks at a problem on the team and goes, "Well... we have to do this responsibly, now, so let's just not make any sudden moves and hope for the best in the draft. We've at least got some cap space, so I suppose let's blow a chunk of it on Teddy ****ing Bridgewater for awhile..." |
