Kylo was emotionally compromised from just shoving his lightsaber through his dad's gut, and was still fighting that internal emotional battle as Han fell into the depths. Then, he takes a bowcater bolt to the side from Chewie (and they had made a point throughout the movie to show how powerful his weapon is, from guys flipping through the air to Han telling him he liked it after he blew about four troopers up with it). He was clearly not running on all cylinders when Finn and Rey took him on. I feel like he was toying with Finn, but Finn got lucky and nicked him causing Kylo to put an end to that ricky tick. Rey just caught him at the perfect time; there is no way she could have beaten him if he was uninjured and focused. JMO. |

But even then, his twists and turns seem weird IMO He kills his own dad - the dark side wins He kills Snoke to save Rey - he has seen the error of his ways He goes after the rebel base guns blazing - the dark side wins again! Expecting more from this movie is just starting to wear on me, hell maybe at my age I shouldnt even give a damn one way or the other lol, it was always meant for kids anyway... just give me cool shots of shit blowing up! The big unforgivable to me though, was giving Luke such little impact/screen time before killing him off... watching him brood around his island doing nothing for 2 hours was horseshit IMO |

It was easily the most "Sith"-like thing that little ****er has done to date. Everything else was emotional, emo-fart nonsense.

Finally saw this and was left feeling 'meh... been there, done that before'. I didn't care much for the direction that they sent Luke however both OB1 and Yoda both went into exile. Luke was always positive and believed the best of people. The only good part was his early dealing with Kylo where each had their own impression of the encounter which started Kylo down the dark path.
Unfortunately, I was left with the impression that this is all driven by political correctness. The original movies were seriously devoid of both racial and sexual diversity. There was no humor and it was just depressing. They made a point of showing the red on the planet when someone stepped on it and it was obvious that Luke was not there as he never left an imprint. So, we have the Kylo/Rey love/hate relationship along with Finn/Rose where Finn clearly would rather have Rey. Most of the Star Wars movies, even the hated prequels, have some plot sequences that aren't obvious at first viewing (Jar Jar Binks, Sith Lord?) however I doubt that I will watch any of the latter movies again. They have been cleansed, or Disney-a-fied and seem to lack any sense of danger or making the characters interesting. |

I'm an old dude and like the character interactions more than all of the CGI. The Leia scene had me quoting the line from GOG 2... I'm Mary Poppins, man. It's rehashing the first trilogy... again... can't people come up with anything new? I guess they all can't be Thor: Ragnarok I'll watch it again... Maybe having a few beers will help make it funnier. |

Great podcast to listen to while cleaning (but only if you're a Last Jedi hater.)

Unlike some, the more I watch this, the less I seem to like it. The home video aspect takes away some of the appeal from a theater setting. Really liked the first viewing, still like it, just not as much as before. Similar to Attack Of The Clones that had some epic moments, but followed by too many cringe worthy moments. The worst of the three current releases in my opinion. My current rankings of the Star Wars Films:
Star Wars ANH/Empire Strikes Back Return Of the Jedi Rouge One The Force Awakens Revenge Of The Sith The Last Jedi The Phantom Menace Attack Of The Clones |
