Lamar Jackson wasn't, isn't, and never will be better than Patrick Mahomes

This "Lamar Jackson is in the same league as Mahomes" nonsense on every football related show I see needs to stop.

Lamar Jackson, on the biggest stage, has now shit down his leg in both opportunities. Lamar is a player who has to have everything around him working perfectly to have success. Put him down 2 scores and ask him to carry the team, he cannot answer the bell.

There's a big difference between a running quarterback, and a quarterback who can run. Lamar Jackson and The Ravens ran 88 plays and put up 12 points.

Jackson attempted 59 passes, only threw one touchdown, but also threw two picks and lost a fumble. 12 points on 59 pass attempts should tell you all you need to know about Lamar as a QB when the lights are the brightest.

Nobody would bat an eye if before the game, soneone told us Pat would put the ball up 59 times. Matter of fact, id be pretty excited to see how many points and yards he would put up in that span of plays.

When things got bad for both QBs, you saw the odds on favorite to win the MVP this year get visible frustrated, press, and ultimately fold. He was nowhere to be seen trying to work out what was happening, rallying his team, he simply pouted on the sideline as his team fell further behind.

The reigning MVP had literally no quit. Its one thing to say after the fact, that we had faith all along, its quite another for that to be true.

Down 24, think about that for a moment. 24. Mahomes is captured, in that moment on the sideline saying we have everything we want. Everyones already counted us the **** out, so go do something special.

Then, to walk the walk after talking the talk, leading the team to 7 straight touchdowns and 8 scoring drives, throwing 5 touchdown passes, and displaying a fiery emotion that if you dont feel anything when you see this kid going nuts after a huge play, call the coroner, because youre already dead.

The two qbs could not be further apart. Jackson cannot hold Mahomes jock when it comes to putting the team on his back.

Lamar should consider signing with KC as a running back. Its the only way barring injury to Mahomes, that hes ever getting a ring.

Mahomes is the MVP. Its not even close. Lamar is a running back executing the halfback pass play about 20-25 times a game.

Jacksons first two years have ended with dud playoff performances.

Mahomes first two years as a starter sees his team hosting back to back AFC title games for a frachise that in its entire history never hosted a single one before he arrived.

Did you hear them pumping him off after the TD to Boyle?

Late on the throw and put it too far into his body on the easiest pitch/catch throw that exists in the NFL. A simple curl over the middle on a play-action.

There is literally not an easier play to make and because Jackson was slow to get it out, didn't have the gun to blast it in there and didn't put it up and away from the defender, Thornhill was still able to get a hand on it and would've knocked it away if he had the explosion he had last season.

And they act like it was as good as any play Mahomes made last night.

The ****ing bar for this guy is ridiculously low. Just don't drool on yourself and we'll call you amazing, Lamar.

Sadly, he pretty much just drooled on himself last night.

Yeah, I said the same last night in the game thread - they've set the bar insanely low in an effort to pump him up. It makes last night look even worse.

3) Incredible discipline and consistent tackling across the entire back 7

How many teams have that blueprint?

The 49ers did (don't now, without Bosa and Buckner)

The Chargers DO

The Steelers have the pass rush and talent on the back end, but I don't think they have the depth the Chargers do at CB and S.

Other than that, who?
Here’s the deal, though. You can have ALL of that, but you STILL won’t beat the Chiefs unless your coach is willing to go balls out and ATTACK at every opportunity. Shanny had the chance to call a timeout in the SB and go for another touchdown, but decided to go Marty instead. A Raiders fan acquaintance said “lol Chiefs got this” the moment Shanny Jr. went conservative before halftime.

I think Bill was the only head coach who really understood this (and had the defense to slow down the Chiefs) AND attacked at every opportunity in the AFCCG (and still was a Dee Ford away from losing) You just will not beat the Chiefs by shutting them down all 4 quarters. Even with the perfect defensive formula, Pat and Andy will eventually break that dam.

Lamar missed two deep shots that could have had a huge impact on the game.

1. One the drive where they got the field goal in the third quarter. Would have made the score 27-17. Overthrew Hollywood Brown.

2. On the TD drive, he underthrew Hollywood Brown and was almost picked by Ward. They still got a TD, but ate up 3-4 more minutes of clock.

Elite QBs hit both and change the game.

I've noticed lately how completely freakin' spoiled I am watching Mahomes... the frequency at which other QBs miss relatively easy throws and even the longer throws seems so much more glaring now.

I really do wish Lamar Jackson was better though... and if not him, a QB in the AFC who could one day make for a Brady/Manning type of rivalry. Fun regular season games, epic playoff games. Not just one-off performances, but something that lasts years.

**** that. I want to rape faces for the next 15 years. Let Trevor Lawrence go to the NFC with Wilson and Rodgers so they can beat each other up and we get the winner.

I think Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence could one day be those guys. Maybe Tua as well...

DeShaun Watson if he had a better organization around him....

He made Andrews (STILL a tight end, guys, act accordingly) lunge for a ball while in full gallop just as he was about to get blasted by a couple defenders. Better ball placement and that's probably a catch.

But because Jackson's ball placement is poor, Andrews is forced to attempt a HELL of a catch and people want to call it a drop. Roman dialed up a good play, got a good look and Andrews executed the route perfectly. Jackson just delivered a mediocre ball. That's not strictly a drop - it was a misfire.
My belief all along was that you had to make Lamar uncomfortable.....because he'll revert back to what he is: A talented athlete who can't hit the side of a barn.

Rodgers at best has 4 years of high level play left, Wilson I dunno if he's gonna be good at 40 with his style but it's possible.

But unfortunately as of today Trevor Lawrence is probably gonna end up a Jet cause that team is so ****in terrible.

It's weird having this talk because Buffalo is undefeated but Josh Allen even with good numbers is so ****in wild I dunno what to think. Dude does crazy shit, holds the ball like bread and tries to truck defenders, I just dunno if he's truly a franchise guy with his style.

Yea I still don’t buy into him ever being a top QB, but I think he has a better shot than Lamar.

He's entertaining to watch he's like Roethlisberger if Roethlisberger did some crack and went wild out.
