Basically the same price I paid for building my own 4080-based PC with a worse processor (13700K). Mine also didn't come with a mouse, keyboard, etc. I did get 3 TB of the best m.2 storage out there but they are so cheap and easy to install, you can do that any time you want. I don't think 1TB is enough to be comfortable but it's definitely "good enough" if that makes sense. I honestly can't believe how good of a deal that is.

Thank God for Micro Center. It is the LAST store in the area (at least that I know of) that still sells computer parts. There used to be a Tiger Direct outlet a couple of miles away, but that folded over ten years ago. Then a couple of years ago Fry's went out of business.

Also just bought a TV from them like 2 weeks ago. They just have these magical sales and I'm there for it.

I'll keep that in mind. I have an old Vizio that should be dying any day now (I've had it for about 15 years), but as long as it works I'm keeping it. But it can't last much longer.

Legit just went to Micro Center today for my monitor and keyboard. They had that exact same PC up top for 3k and salesman started pitching me hard on it. Pulled up that link up top and he just laughed and walked off.

Due for a new build and I'm a little out of the loop, so looking for advice. I've been feeling lately that my current build is getting a little long in the tooth, so I checked my records to see when I put this together -- 2017. So yeah, it's time.
I've only ever done Intel builds, but have been kicking around the idea of an AMD build this time around. I'm aware of the Intel issues currently, which is driving some of that thought process. I'm not married to the idea, so I can be talked out of it. Seems like the clear consensus is the 7800X3D for the CPU, but I also see that it spiked in price over the past year, so was considering stepping down to the 7700X. I have a PS5 for a good chunk of my gaming, so it doesn't have to be bleeding edge. |

If your not gaming, dont buy the x3d, however, if you are going to game, the 7800x3d is the best gaming processor on the market until that nov 7th date. For you, if you are going to get that 7800x3d or even 7700x and a decent GPU, you might as well sell your PS5 and recoup some cash, because that would be a very strong gaming PC either way. So if you are going AMD and want to stay on the value side of things I would tell you to do a b650 board, run 16 or 32 gb of cheap ddr5, and look at that 7700x or 7800x3d. With that, you even have some room to upgrade at a later date depending on your needs since the 9 series processors are am5 socket, and if we get lucky, the next generation will be too. |

Appreciate the advice. After I made that post I started looking at GPUs. 4070, 4070 Super, 4070 Ti, 4070 Ti Super... makes me feel like someone is just ****ing with us with these variations.
In any case, I think I'm between a 4070 and the 7900 XT. I think I'm leaning Nvidia though. |
