*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Mahomes is 11-3. He's tied for 12th most but could tie for 3rd at 14 if we win it all again this year.

Just an insane mark.
The dude has only lost in overtime of the AFCCG or the Super Bowl. That's an insane floor.

And the one of those was his first year starting with no defense behind him in Artic ****ing temps playing against the best defensive mind in the league and Tom Brady! Annnnnnnnddd he had them BEAT. He only lost that game because of Dee Ford's ignorant ass.

Then also he had the Bengals on the ropes until Bienemy threw the grapefruit at him at halftime too.

I mean just think about for a minute.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that my team finally has the best QB in the league.

I started to think what positions, in the history of the NFL, have the Chiefs had the best player in the league playing for them. Not the best season at the position, but arguably the best player at that position.

LT - Roaf
RG - Shields
RT - Schwartz
RB - Holmes
TE - Gonzalez, Kelce
QB - Mahomes

Defense will be harder for me, as I wasn't able to follow the entire league in the 70s and 80s due to my age and lack of access to media in any form. In my memory Cherry and Lewis were all-pros, but I don't know their league status, and I don't know if like Buchanan was ever considered the best at his position, etc.

EDGE - DT (I know he was technically listed as a LB)
CB - Lewis
LB - Lanier
S - Cherry
DT - Buchanan, Jones

Who did I miss?

Lewis seems a reach but admittedly I don't recall him at his peak in the late 80s.

But I know that Darrell Green and Rod Woodson (and eventually Sanders) played at about the same time and I have a hard time thinking Lewis was better than those 3.

I don't think it was LONG, but in '68-'70 when Starr/Unitas/Jurgenson had fallen off and the next wave hadn't broken through yet (Foutes/Bradshaw) - it's either Len or Tarkenton, right?

And I don't think it's a coincidence that was when we won the championship.

Didn't Holmes have the best 3 consecutive seasons for a RB?

My only concern is we might only have 13-18 years left of Mahomes
