Off Season Lets Talk Guns, Part 2

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

BTW, easy to build. Lots of excellent videos on YouTube.
Which brand do you recommend? I found some Spikes Tactical stripped lowers for $89. And then there are a lot of polymer complete lowers from around $120. I not sure about those though.

Spikes are good lowers.

I'd stay away from polymer lowers, especially since aluminum lowers are so cheap and abundant.

And don't forget to stock up on lower parts kits, too.

Alright...I have four stripped lowers, a lower build kit, and a Radical Firearms complete upper on the way. All for over $100 less than I sold my Sig556 for. Can't wait to try my first build.

I bought a Springfield 1903 yesterday. It's dated 1929 with a barrel dated 1944. Description says metal is very good with 90% blueing, very good stock with a couple minor handling marks. It also says bore is bright and shiny with a couple spots of minor surface pitting hoping it is minor. Muzzle gauge of a one. Action is smooth with a rebuild in 1944. It has a Remington bolt.

Bought it for $725. Is that about what it's worth?

Got my Springfield 03 today. This rifle is beautiful. Found one small spot with very light pitting on the bolt. Everything else looks clean. Going to shoot it a couple times, throw on some wax, and make it a safe queen.

I think you got a fairly good deal. Here locally at the gun shows the lower end for '03s is around $300 to $400 with upper end being a $800 to $900 for the run of the mill issue rifles. You'll definitely have to post some pics of it . Main thing is if you're happy with your purchase what else matters. Congrats on your purchase of piece of history!

I was finally able to snag a M1 Garand for a decent price online.

Hopefully I can pick it up from my FFL by next weekend and post some pics.

No kidding? The cheapest ones I could find on gunbroker were around $700-800. I'm not worried about all matching numbers and what not. I wanted an 03' and got one.

I'm sticking to collectible guns. More enjoyable to own pieces of history.

The ones I have seen in that lower end range I felt quite frankly were junk. They had the hell beat out of them. They weren't well maintained over their service life for sure. I didn't bother to inspect the bolts and bores on them because they looked so bad. Honestly I'm envious The '03 is another one of the guns on my long wishlist.

I've found two small spots of surface pitting on the bolt, very light spots. Other than that, everything looks well taken care of. The action is smooth and the wood is in good shape. The inside of the barrel looks good. I'm taking it to a gunsmith before I shoot it. I'm also going to wax it as soon as possible.

Time to start saving for an M1 Garand.
