So...Horsfeces signs Glasgow (center) to a $44 million deal with $26 million guaranteed...isn't a UFA until 2024 then proceeds to use a 3rd round pick on Cushenberry (center).
Sooo...his entire rookie contract is the same length as the 4th highest paid center that was just signed. Who does that? I guess the same GM that drafts Chubb at #5 when it isn't really necessary.... Last edited by BlackOp; 04-27-2020 at 01:40 AM.. |

No Broncos skill position player would start for the Chiefs

Glasgow was not signed to play center, he discussed that when he arrived.

I dunno, he's played well at both positions... I don't get too concerned with the math behind it all. I mean, push comes to shove and things get tricky, they're gonna cheap the cap, amirite?

Here's the other thing that baffles me. Jerry Jeudy's best production on the college level came out of the slot, he'd like see that in the NFL too. So the Broncos respond to that by using their 2nd pick on a midget who is a slot only WR, that completely limits your first pick, smooth one.

Keep in mind that Denver is trying to keep up with us any way possible. That extends to ST’s and gadget plays (jet sweeps, screens, etc) which is why they drafted Hamler. But yeah I still think OT was the better pick there

Elway drafted (apparently) through the lens of him being a QB and what would he want. So, I'm not going to fault it at this point. Especially since Cushenberry still fell their way. I feared them losing out on an OT and a starting C and for whatever reasons, Cush was destined to stick around until they pulled the trigger and I'm very happy about that selection. I think if Wirfs had made it to 15, that was their pick and they were hoping Hamler would be there, so they decided to go with the WR duo and see what happens with OT/C. Again, Denver had a number of holes to fill and I think they had a pretty good draft. Lock, Sutton, Lindsay/Gordon, Fant, Jeudy, Hamler/Hamilton/Albert O... those are some nice weapons. Their OL will be better than last year and they didn't look as bad when Lock started playing. That's not to say it's fixed, Bolles is still a liability. But again, you can't fix it all in one draft or offseason. I like their DL, secondary and linebackers - the defense should be at worst just as good as they finished and at best, improved - esp when you consider Chubb missed most of 2019. They have a young nucleus with a lot of great upside, should easily contend for the 2nd place spot in the division and be a possible WC entry. That's all I'm looking for in 2020... consistent improvement, score 7 more points a game on offense and be aggressive.
