2012 Kansas City Royals Repository Thread
2012 Slogan: Our Time
A better, more accurate 2012 Slogan: It is Finally Next Year (from Great Expectations) An alternative slogan if you don't like that one: Someone has to win this crappy division (from alnorth) With the beginning of a new year, it is time for the 2012 version of the Royals Repository Thread. We've got Hosmer, we've got a 2011-dominating Gordon, we've got Moose, we've got hopefully a killer bullpen, we've got a stereotypical slow slugging DH, we've got easily one of the best defensive shortstops in the AL, we've got a promising catcher in Salvador Perez. Hell, we've got offense and promising prospects galore. We do not have starting pitching. Oh yeah, we've also got this: ![]() Get ready for, (as of January 2012 anyway), one of the most confusing puzzles of a baseball season in recent Royals history. Will they suck? Maybe, I don't know. Will we be given a year of 0.500 baseball? Possibly, I don't know. Will they win the division and go to the playoffs for the first time in 27 years? For the first time in a long time, it could happen, I don't know. 92 losses, 92 wins, or anything in between would not surprise a lot of us. Everything goes here except Gameday threads and really big news. If a giant story breaks, the Royals achieve some awesome milestone, or we sign/lose a highly significant player/coach/mascot/whatever, then it might also deserve its own thread. This being Chiefs Planet, please do not clutter the board with new threads about trivial Royals news or you will only annoy those who come here for just Chiefs football. If you aren't sure and its not a Gameday thread, it goes here. What sort of stuff often goes here? SPchief explained it well, so I'll just copy that: Quote:

He pitched well, but his next outing he'll give up 6 in the 4th. Heartless and headless.

Hoch's wheels fall off too easy. He has no mental toughness. He needs a few CCs of Jack Morris. I watched Verlander pitching against the Red Sox a few weeks back. He was behind, and pitched out of trouble numerous times. Guy is a fighter and is fearless. Hoch has talent, but no scrotum.

Lohse tonight. Minor league call-up Joe Kelly pitches Saturday, and Wainwright Sunday.
Those three have pitched well, but haven't gotten much run support. I expect our starting pitching to be better than yours, but if you can get to our bullpen, anything could happen. I have tickets to tonight's game, as well as tomorrow - should be a fun weekend. Hopefully a lot of Royals fans made the trip. |

Hope the guys gained some momentum with their first home series sweep and back-to-back walk off wins. I would love to go but I have to work. Never been in Busch Stadium but it looks nice. Walked by it when I stayed at the Millenium a few years ago when I was in town for the MVC bball tournament. |

This is breaking news! St. Louis fans to be subjected to Hud during the upcoming Royals-Cards Fox Broadcasts. Fraz, get ready to kill your television!
Media Views: More moves on Cards TV Media Views • BY DAN CAESAR | Posted: Friday, June 15, 2012 12:35 am | Viewers who already are confused by Fox Sports Midwest's awkward hodge-podge rotation of announcers in its Cardinals broadcast booth might really have their heads spinning over the next week, as FSM plans to swap Cards analysts with those from the opposing team's telecast for several innings once per series. The Cards are in the meat of their interleague schedule, entertaining Kansas City through Sunday, playing at Detroit at midweek, then in KC next weekend. The rundown: • Al Hrabosky is to go to the Royals' TV booth tonight to work alongside Ryan Lefebvre for innings 3-6, with Rex Hudler coming from the Fox Sports Kansas City side to join play-by-play man Rick Horton on FSM. Hudler was a fan favorite when he was a Cardinal in the early '90s. And although Hrabosky is best known for his days as a Cardinal, he pitched for KC in the late '70s. • On Wednesday, Hrabosky will trade places with Fox Sports Detroit's Rod Allen, who will work with Horton. Hrabosky will be teamed with Tigers play-by-play announcer Mario Impemba for innings 4-5. • Then a week from today Hudler and Hrabosky are to make the shuffle again for innings 3-6, with Hudler working on FSM with Horton and Hrabosky teaming with FSKC's Steve Physioc. A similar move wasn't made for the Cards' recently completed interleague series against the White Sox and Indians because those teams' games are not on a Fox Sports Net affiliate. But Fox sees value in making the exchanges now. "The goal is to give fans a greater familiarity with these American League teams we don't see as often,'' FSM spokesman Geoff Goldman said Thursday, adding that it will allow fans "to get that insight directly from the perspective of that team's analyst." Although the premise of the switching is good, it would be much more appealing if the Cards' booth wasn't so jumbled already that viewers are left wondering what announcer lineup they'll be hearing from game to game. The majority of contests are called by Dan McLaughlin doing the play-by-play alongside Hrabosky, but a significant number have McLaughlin working with analyst Horton and others feature Horton on play-by-play and Hrabosky as the analyst. Adding to the maze is that Jay Randolph was brought out of retirement Wednesday to do an inning of play-by-play on a telecast that for the most part was nothing more than an elongated commercial for a bar-restaurant in the stadium — and its sponsor. Shots of the sometimes seemingly near-empty facility clogged the TV screen throughout the nearly 2 1/2-hour game. Randolph's succinct, solid call of Carlos Beltran's homer, which provided the only run of the game, was one of the few highlights of an otherwise horrendous premise for a telecast. |

Radio host for the Cardinals, Scott Warmann?????, was on with Petro earlier today and was asked who on the Royals he would most like to have play for the Cardinals and the guy said Jeff Francoeur. I damn near drove off the Heart of America bridge when he said it. Petro nearly spit out his Goodcents.

Yep, apparently he's out of touch with our farm system, Latin America, lockerroom syngery championship banners we've hoisted the last couple years.

Guy doesn't write for the paper, doesn't have his own radio show. Does a bit on the pregame show. Bottom of the barrel. Not sure why Petro would even waste his time booking this guy, unless he couldn't get Miklasz, Hummel or Goold. |
