I’m not sure where this narrative came from. Pretty sure he ran a limited route tree against lesser competition. He showed promise to run really good routes but most of it was faith that because he has the right attitude and measurables he could learn these skills.

Andy has developed alot of WR's over his time in the league, but not all were developed into workhorse throw it to anytime #1 guys.

Too many people think 2nd round WR's have to be Aj Brown or it's a bust.

Brandin Cooks isn't doing shit in Dallas. He'd be someone I'd put on my radar for sure. He's still got it he's just buried in Dallas and has Dak throwing to him.

Yeah, I don’t buy the take that Andy can’t develop WRs. He clearly can. I think it’s more of a talent issue and that was done somewhat on purpose. With tyreek and kelce, the offense can open guys up and having either burners or ankle breakers can be lethal. With kelce winding down, I hope but also tend to think we will focus more on guys like rashee who can get open on their own.

That's a totally different argument.

His point was essentially that guys are who they're going to be when they enter the league. That's nonsense.

The reason people take WR's early in the first round is because they think they'll need LESS development, that they're more 'polished'.

But that has no bearing on whether or not guys 'develop' from other places in the draft.

It's just a silly statement.

I actually agree with that take in some form.

Some things guys have or they don't. There's not much development when it's a feel or a physical thing.

It'll equalize - always does.

Those drops are in there so he's not gonna get down to 6.5% because they're already baked into the cake. But he'll regress to the mean and end up at 6-8% for the rest of the year and end up around 9/10% on the whole.

He's gonna be fine. So will Toney.

Simple explanations that those with an agenda will already chalk up as excuses. Rice is a rookie who is learning it all and may have lapses in concentration. Toney's injury problems plague him and lack of practice time has shown. It will improve.

Rice's drops haven't been concentration drops, by and large. He's looking the ball in but they're just clanging off his hands.

He just needs to work on his catch technique.

That said, the elevated drop rate is more of a sample size issue than anything. His drops came early but in time and with more targets, it'll come out in the wash.

This is the only circumstance that applies. Going down the rabbit hole of 'kneel-downs' is a bad idea. I've seen too many 4th and goal at the 1s be stopped to say those could/should be added.

Unless there's a clear walk in, like the Jets game, where someone slides to run clock, it's a waste of time with the "woulda/coulda/shoulda"s.

Rice had drops in college too. So, there goes your agenda for those who have an agenda...Just messing with ya, but it is well documented that he had the drops in college as well.

Well, his drop rate in college was 7.8% which is a heckuva lot more benign than his current 16.7%.

Yes. Probably due to a larger sample size. But my point was that he has always had the problem, so it could be his thing. I dont think its a matter of having an agenda. It is what it is, dude drops passes.

I think in the later rounds you kinda have to bank on an athlete learning routes and feel, or guys with feel with less physical upside. I actually think we got a bit of a steal in rashee because he seems to have both. It’s not that it’s impossible, but there are limits to how much you can coach up athleticism that isn’t there and I think feel is maybe more raw instinct than it is developable muscle than we give it credit for.

Maybe this is a little too bold… but for those looking for value at WR, is it possible we consider really smart guys with slightly less athleticism for x/y and then continue to round out our WR depth with pure athletes and specialists?
