Agree with all your points. In addition to a stronger commissioner and just overall leadership, it would've been helpful if all the other schools outside of Texas would've put aside petty differences and stood together and put Texas and Oklahoma in their place. Those 10 schools standing together could've overruled Texas on EVERYTHING and created a conference that was equitable to everyone. Equitable revenue sharing on all three Tiers for tv rights. A Big 12 Network. A conference that holds the hammer and places it's teams in bowl games instead of the bowls determining it. You know, like all the successful conferences do it.

More...they have some mad beakers:
The problem is, Texas does not, never did, and probably never will see a Conference as something bigger than the individual parts. They see is as "mouths to feed". Wieberg left as B12 Commissioner because he knew he was powerless without Texas approval. I think you need to go further back to keep the cracks from forming. 1. Do not bring in Baylor and TT at the formation of Big 12. They formed part of the Texas block that kept anything from changing OR the conference voting be a simple majority instead of a super majority. 2. Divisional play include a permanent cross-rival to keep the Nebraska-OU series going. Part of the blame also goes to OU. They abandon Nebraska to fall in bed with Texas. 3. HQ in KC instead of Dallas. Perhaps it would be purely symbolic, but it would have made it more difficult for the North members to look elsewhere. But having it in Dallas, just made it all part of the Texification of the conference. 4. Wieberg being successful in pushing for and creating a Big 12 Network. Could have actually been out in front of the BTN. Instead he helped develop that.

****The Official NEW (new)^3 conference realignment & shit talk thread****
This one could be Bambitch...
Nebraska, aTm and Colorado were looking to leave regardless. Only NU and aTm left because of Texas, and that is only because the conference wouldn't let them be the Big Dog and they got their feelings hurt. Moo just got lucky and happened to be in the right place at the right time. lol

Last one...a lot of pissed off beakers. This one is interesting:
The SEC is counting on getting a 2nd rep most years. If Mississippi St doesn't lose to Ole Miss then they are in and tOSU is out. Next year if there is 2 one loss SEC teams they will both get into the playoffs you can almost guarantee it. No one thinks a one loss acc team will ever get in so once that FSU loses or all the acc teams have one loss than they are done and two SEC teams will get in most years and the big12, PAC and B1G will fight for the other 2 spots and the big12 will be at the biggest disadvantage of that group because like this year most years they won't control their own destiny, unless they go undefeated, but will need to other schools to lose in their conference championship games.

Truth be told, Ohio State gets in either way. All Bowlsby did was make the Big 12 look like a bunch of bitches more interested in gaming the system than in earning their way in. It's a bad look, and the conference should dump him and disavow his methods. The schools in the conference really do deserve better. Texas notwithstanding, they circled the wagons exceptionally well and made the best of a very bad situation. If the conference as a whole would embrace the underdog role, it has the potential to be very successful. Put together aggressive out of conference schedules...anyone anywhere anytime. Basically...do the exact opposite of what Baylor and TCU have done. Be Oklahoma State, Kansas State (this year's version), and West Virginia. A reasonable effort against Florida State is better than kicking The Incarnate Word's ass.

Yeah. The Big 12 DID get a team in the playoffs. Everyone in Kansas City IS able to watch every KU game, the Big 12 DIDN'T pass on Louisville, and there are PLENTY of good schools available to add.
How in the hell do you type while wearing a straight jacket?

Some interesting Numbers...TV revenue is the future of college football what do these numbers say for the Big 12?
ACC: 8 states - 76,290,251 B1G: 11 states - 84,643,446 B12: 5 states - 38,137,438 PAC12: 6 states - 64,029,855 SEC: 11 states - 93,113,275 (The first number is the number of unique states each conference is in. The second number is the total population number of those states.) The B12 has a problem with having four schools in the state of Texas. And they're one of two Power 5 conferences that are not fully "contiguous". Iowa State and West Virginia are on islands. The other P5 conference that is not fully contiguous is the ACC and Boston College is the only school that is apart from the rest. All the other schools share at least one border. The B1G, Pac12 and SEC are FULLY contiguous which is something I believe builds natural rivalries. Now who could the B12 even invite to get them to 12, or more, schools AND even get close to the numbers that the B1G and SEC have today. Remember the talk about the SEC adding a Virginia and North Carolina school? That would take the SEC over 111,000,000 people in their conference footprint. You may not come to the same conclusion but if I was a B12 school NOT named OK or TX I'd be pretty concerned about the future of the conference.

Those numbers don't have a ton of meaning. Every major conference has more than enough money to compete (with the ACC being the possible exception). The Big 12 has become too focused on maximizing revenue to the detriment of the product on the field. They've cut off their face in spite of their nose.

I just saw them on another site & I know everything is about footprint size & those correlate into that. I do think North Carolina & Virginia are the next natural additions to the SEC.
