Big 10 Report: Conference Realignment
A source in St. Louis familiar with the situation told NewsCenter 16 Thursday afternoon that Missouri will leave the Big XII and soon join the Big 10. Other schools expected to follow the Tigers are Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers and Nebraska.
Many have speculated that such an expansion would include Notre Dame but ND athletic director Jack Swarbrick told me today that the Irish prefer to stay independent in football and in the Big East for other sports. Swarbrick said maintaining football Independence is such a part of what Notre Dame is. He went on to say the Big East is a great partner for the University in other sports. "We do have to monitor what is going on," Swarbrick said. "There will be significant shifts. "Hopefully we can navigate them by keeping our football independent and keeping our Big East affiliation because that is what we care about." The move of Syracuse, Pitt and Rutgers to the Big Ten from the Big East could categorically change the landscape of the Big East itself. Thus, what Swarbrick is referring to when stating the University must continue to monitor what is going on. The interview with Swarbrick was done before the late afternoon announcement. http://www.wndu.com/sports/headlines/92447574.html Last edited by Mr. Laz; 06-10-2010 at 02:57 PM.. |

Also, I doubt that the left behind schools stay under the big 12 banner just to collect some extra money for 2 years. If the conference is dead, everyone will bail quickly, MWC, Big East, whatever everyone will have "left".

Te Exodus has begun.
http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/c...-pac-10-061010 Colorado leaves Big 12 for Pac-10 Fox SportsPRINT EMAIL RSS ADD THIS 141 comments »Updated Jun 10, 2010 1:51 PM ET The Colorado Buffaloes have bolted from the Big 12, accepting an invitation Thursday to become the 11th member of the Pac-10 Conference. Colorado's move was first reported by The Sporting News. Before the Buffaloes jumped ship to another conference, Nebraska looked poised to become the first team to leave the Big 12, possibly exiting for the Big Ten as soon as Friday. With Colorado gone and Nebraska on the verge of maybe moving on, this could seriously damage remaining members' hopes to keep the Big 12 intact. Schools such as Missouri, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas and Kansas State might be left on the sidelines. “This is an historic moment for the Conference, as the Pac-10 is poised for tremendous growth," Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. "The University of Colorado is a great fit for the Conference both academically and athletically." A press conference is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. ET. The official statement offered no information about when Colorado would begin playing in the Pac-10. The Daily Camera reported earlier Thursday that it would take effect for the 2012 season. “On behalf of The University of Colorado students, faculty, alumni and fans, we are proud to accept this invitation from the Pac-10 and join the most prestigious academic and athletic conference in the nation,“ Colorado Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano said in a statement. Texas and Texas A&M officials are scheduled to meet to discuss the future of their programs. Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds has said he wants to keep the Big 12 together. Baylor and Texas Tech officials have said that even if the Big 12 breaks apart, they want to remain with Texas and Texas A&M as members of the same conference. The Pac-10 currently consists of Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington and Washington State. |

A tweet from a OK journalist
From the Oklahoman: OSU booster Boone Pickens: "We're in" -- if Big 12 exodus to Pac-10 happens. “It cost us, but we’re in.” |

Cuz he is the most inept mother****er since Ken Lay.
I do want to go on Record, saying that I hope that MU gets a Big Ten invite and that KU and KSU go to the Big ACC Leftovers or SEC. I want all three teams to keep on being awesome and relevant. It would suck for one or more of us to get hosed. |

Sad thing is, John Marinatto makes Dan Beebe look like a genius. I don't think Marinatto even knows Big East football exists.
