Toney's performance was diabolical but at least the guy has an excuse after missing all of camp, the warmup games and only returning to practice this week. He simply was in no shape to be out there and was obviously rushed back too soon.

The Skyy Moore hype was big before this game but he may just be another Hardman where expectations are never realised.

Rice was good imo and Ross had a catch. I do wonder though would ISM have dropped those passes? I doubt it tbh 😆

Kadarius Phoney and Skyy Less looked horrible.

MVS and Watson not so much. TE's played decent as well.

Bad play calling, letting up 2 long 3rd downs on D, having another team run a 4th down fake punt up our ass, drops all over the field and no ability to make a 3rd and 1 conversion.

Toney cost us a pick 6, a FG instead of a potential TD and a 1st down at the end of the game.

That was a bench-worthy performance.

Giants had the worst WR last year and the 2023 chiefs have 2 of them. Do we really need to say anything more.

Which teams have better receiving groups than KC, when we include Kelce and assume that our best trio is Kelce, MVS and, I guess, Toney, on talent. I'd say the below but with the caveat that Rice could well be a top player.

Bengals - Chase, Higgins, Boyd
Eagles - Brown, Smith, Goedert
Dolphins - Hill, Waddle, Wilson
SF - Samuel, Aiyuk, Kittle
Seahawks - Lockett, Metcalf, Smith-Njigba (maybe)
Cowboys - Lamb, Cooks, Gallup
Chargers - Allen, Williams, Johnson
Ravens - OBJ, Bateman, Andrews

That's off the top of my head, maybe you can argue the toss on a few but there's probably another 5-8 you could argue too.

Unless and until Rice or A N Other steps up and shows out we are pretty far down the pecking order. Kelce and Mahomes are good enough that none of this may matter, but it's hard to argue our receivers are close to the talent some of these teams have.

It's one game. You're judging based on one game.

Not really. Most of those other teams have established trios. What I should have said to qualify this though is that I think you can make the argument that Kelce is that much better than some of the best options for those teams that the drop then to MVS is mitigated.

I don't think by late in the season your assessment will hold water.

It's a young group, and collectively, they had a bad game.

There's no reason to write them all off.

Absolutely not and that could be right, especially if Rice or Moore or even James emerges, that's why I said right now. But, right now, nobody could pretend that the 3 I mentioned stand up to a number of those trios for talent or production. Mahomes does and WILL make mediocre play well, but at this point we don't have another 1,000 yd receiver. Really it's testament to Mahomes.

Pathetic WR Performance

One of the worst WR performances that I have ever witnessed over the past 50 years. Toney obviously was on a different planet and requires some serious mental health assessment. In fact, the entire WR core must have been eating buttered corn during this debacle. Very painful to watch. WR coach Embree may need to go or at least gets some serious counseling. He gets an 'F' on this fiasco.

Meanwhile, Chris Jones was in attendance sitting on his dead ass. Trade or sell the traitor while he has some monetary value and get at least one quality WR. Our defensive side did a decent job overall without this bum. I am fed up with his stupid folksy 'I love the Chiefs' act. Nothing personal, but just get rid of this overgrown bozo.

Trick plays are a joke and should be reserved for a circus.

Most of those teams just paid their QB they won’t be able to keep everyone. Cincinnati is gonnna lose Higgins.
