Tamba Hali

Has anyone seen him? His friends and family are worried.

What happened to our impact LB? The sack machine? The difference maker?

So, the Chiefs are paying $3.5 million for a locker room guy, whose on-the-field value is that of a backup?

No wonder they were 4-12 last year

He's on the team cause he'll snitch for the FO, is my guess.

Oh, okay.

So $5.2 million over two years for a declining player that doesn't attend OTA's or mini-camps and missed two full games this past season.

I'd rather see Studebaker starting. Not because he's "amazing" but because at this point in time, he's a better linebacker than Vrabel.

The fact is Tamba Hali is one of the last guys to be bitching about on this defense/team. It's reeruned for people to be doing it.
While I think you overrate Hali, I agree with what you are saying here.

I doubt he'll ever be a consistent double digit sack guy, but he is one of teh last guys we should be bitching about.

JMO, but I think its spot on.
I think Hali is a high motor guy that never gives up on a play, and I really like him fo rthat.

However, he may get a lot of QB pressures, but because of his lack of speed, he's a guy that will always be a guy with high numbers of pressure, but never quite finish.

That's why I think he'll never be a double digit sack guy.

But then I was admittedly wrong about his transition to OLB, and he was far more productive than I thought he could be, so, hopefully I'm wrong about that too.

Studabaker showed that he is an opportunistic defender when he was given a chance.

I hate hearing that he was just "in the right place at the right time" he was doing his ****ing job and defending a zone and made the play when it was there to be made.

He raped Rothlisberger, something that he might be deserving of, if you catch my drift...

And Mike Brown was the defensive player of the week one week. I guess we should keep him too?

I think there's a difference between making plays and having plays hit you right in the hands.

And Hali cannot finish like DT.

Look, I'll be the first to admit that Tamba was better than I was expecting. Again, he can have a role in a successful defense. But if you're expecting him to be your primary pass rusher in a top 5 D, which should be the goal, I think you're pissing into the wind.

If Hali beat his man with a speed rush, the qb could step up in the pocket every time to escape. If Hali used his above average balance to beat his man to inside leverage, the QB rolled to Vrabels side to escape every time. From there, all he had to do was throw away from Flowers and he was out of trouble and onto a career day.

Is Hali slow? YES

Are his combine times in the quickness/balance drills on par with about any good pass rusher in the NFL? YES, eerily similar to the elite ones to be more accurate.

Does Hali have short arms that cause missed opertunities? ABSOLUTELY

Do I think the defenses lacking talent is more to do with his just above average production than his physical limitations? ABSO****INGLUTELY

JMO

I think Hali's lack of speed comes into play when the QB sees or feels the pressure runs away.

Hali doesn't have the speed to catch him.

Now, with upgrades, that pressure will have the QB running into sacks from someone else, hopefully.

I just hope that it won't be too long before the Chiefs have those upgrades in place.

That was a hypothetical, since I just don't yet have faith in Pioli.
