I learned within the first few months of living in LA and working in Universal's Music Publishing division that every single songwriter and composer should audit because they'll always find mistakes.

I actually was assigned many times to audit and counter the auditors and more often than not, they found money but generally, I found more.

It's a nasty game.

I know, it's disgusting. But that said, it's the same with ASCAP. I have music now on more than 3,500 episodes of cable and network TV, along with scores of bumpers, a few national commercials and so on.

I swear, and I'm not exaggerating, EVERY time I hear my music on TV, I'm not paid for it, whether the Cue Sheet was incorrect (or just outright not submitted) or I get the "Oh sorry, we didn't Survey that channel on that specific day, so no payment for you!".

I switched to SESAC in July. Hopefully, it's much better.

Are you using Apple? That's the only way I'd consider Logic. Far too many better choices out there.

I’m looking at laptop options - I know majority of people use Logic Pro but if there’s something better in all ears. I do a lot of ideas on my phone through garbage band But it’s too limited as far as playback and truly working on ideas.

Demo everything. The thing about digital workstations is finding one that fits your workflow best. There are only so many bits in a digital format, so no one really has much of a "leg up" on anyone else in sound quality; it's all about features and ease of use.
I always preferred Cakewalk stuff, as their format was the closest thing to using a virtual analog system in terms of the way it was laid-out.
Having the ability to record fader sweeps, panning, and effects punching in and out, on time every time, was definitely a strong selling point for the digital realm to me, though I still prefer a fat analog track when it comes right down to it.
A lot of people spend high dollar on tube preamps when using digital workstations, and I would advise you to do the same. There are however some cost-effective brands that can help you fatten up your tracks without breaking the bank. The number of quality choices to fit any budget these days is staggering.
If we had had this shit in the mid-80's, I shudder to think about the ungodly tracks I could have been assembling instead of trying to make 4 other people understand just what in the hell I was trying to accomplish!

Did you ever need to be someone special or from special lineage to wield the force? There were thousands of jedi before order 66, were they all from special families?

Right... i guess i don't understand how this veers off from the OT except there are no longer jedi around to identify children that can use the force and train them. If there were, it's possible that rey and broom boy would have been discovered. Nowhere that I know of does it say that, without that training, the force sensitive kid/person wouldn't ever be able to wield the force. I always assumed the Jedi training was more how to use the force responsibly and how to resist the pull to the dark side.

Hopefully for the better, not for worse.

I trust JJ Abrams to deliver a phenomenal Episode IX like I trust my 14 year old Yellow Lab to drive me home from drinking all night in the 'Wood.

At least you know the type of movie you are getting from JJ. I liked TFA, The first Trek reboot with Pine.

He did some of my favorite TV shows of all time, Alias, Fringe etc. His movies are not just all by the numbers and audience researched crap. I agree with your point, they are meant to be entertaining to the masses not groundbreaking cinema or "phenomenal". He is who he is.

He's Spielberg-Lite. That's fine and all but his movies are always "safe".

They're never ground-breaking and never edgy.

Now, quite obviously, he's made a phenomenal career out of being Spielberg-Lite but unlike Spielberg, Abrams will never make a movie like Saving Private Ryan or Munich or Schindler's List.

I'm sure that Episode IX will resolve answers, make the Resistance relevant by wiping out The First Order and bring peace and happiness to the galaxy.

That's his deal.
