We did great. Came in with a great game plan that put us up big early. They adjusted before halftime, sinking their linebackers on routes. It was a change, and Mahomes took a bit to adjust, and only after throwing a couple of picks.

Then, he adjusted, started taking the underneath and absolutely TORCHING them with long runs where he ran out of bounds untouched. They won the game comfortably. If he doesn't slide at the end, it's a ten point victory on the road vs a championship caliber defense.

It literally took the Jets having the first and only good game - a CAREER game - out of their QB to even lose by 10.

The fact that two big scores came from our back up tight end and our RB doesn't mean the offense wasn't working, it just means it wasn't the WRs who carried the load.

The 2019 Patriots offense was quite good - top 5 in most major categories. But it wasn't the death star it was in 2012. Instead they relied on a dependable, more workmanlike offense and an opportunistic defense that could get the stops when they needed to. Oh, and help from the officials.

This isn't the 2018/2019 Chiefs offense but fellas it doesn't need to be. Teams evolve and GREAT teams evolve in ways where they are still finding ways to win ballgames.

Most teams don't look functionally similar to a team that came 3 years before it, let along 4 or 5. And this one shouldn't be expected to either.

Would I like us to be a 32 pt/gm team? Yeah - but that just wasn't ever realistic. We had to make decisions with the roster as the team evolved. Most of 'em have been pretty damn good ones.

But it isn’t even the 2022 offense either. And as we’ve seen, we can’t just rely on Travis to carry the offense as if replacing juju is the acceptable standard. we don’t need tyreek hills or Justin Jeffersons. But our WRs are playing no better than reche Caldwell/Gaffney right now, to use your example.

Not to say build a bad defense. It is more the fine line of do they need to be great or elite? Because if we all acknowledge we have finite resources, we have pumped a LOT of those into the defense. And we will need to keep feeding that with lots and lots of picks if we want to keep that engine running. All the while preparing for a kelce regression which may occur sooner than expected. Do we still feel that we can build our offense nearly the same way? If this year is a bandaid to the future, fine.

Sauce Gardner isn't going to feel the need to hold Watson to draw the flag and close the win against the Jets.

I agree that 14m next year is too much for a decoy player but they gotta find that replacement because right now they ain't got it.

Mecole isn't anything beyond a random Jet sweep and like one game a year where the opposing Defense forgets he exists and he accidentally puts up some stats.

You've gone on and on about this for a while.

They're playing for January and February here. Nothing has to be set in stone or considered done right now and they're 4-1.

You keep saying "they don't need elite WR's" yet wanna go pay high end #2's like they're elite because you feel unsure about the current offense. That's just a surefire way to roster **** ups. The current WR's are on a good developmental curve for what you'd hope. Ideally, sure theres a DJ Moore in the group.

2018's offense is gone. It's not coming back, move on.

Watson has done it already and actually produced doing it. I'm not sure why he couldn't continue to do it.

And Mecole did it last year early. I'd say he could do it again.

We saw Mahomes make that work last year. MVS in the Bengals game, Juju in the SB, Toney a few times.

There is no right answer. I personally as a SB contending team would not put my season on a 2nd round rookie receiver but that’s me.


We also had everything fall for us right last year. This is a new year. Expecting every team in the AFC to implode is not how I would manage this roster.
