Going to need a lot of things to go right to get back to where we were last year, basically because Veach bet on this group being good to go
MVS is fine. He is an expensive decoy.

Moore should not dress.

Toney was scared of getting hurt again and alligator armed the ball over and over. He at least has talent.

It's unusual for our guys to drop that many passes, anywhere, anytime. We'll go back and work on that. You gotta take care of business and these guys know that. We've got to fix it.-Andy Reid

Mahomes was 2/12 with 0 TD's and 1 INT's when targeting WR's in the second half of tonight's game.

If only he can figure out a way to catch his own passes.

This is one of those games where traditional stats don’t match the eye test at all. ESPN seemed to recognize this. They graded Mahomes at 72/100 QBR, which is pretty damn good. If you’re above 70/100 QBR on the season, you are in MVP contention.

Although I might have been overly optimistic that Toney could pick up the slack for 12 games or so.

Is that really what you’re gathering from this thread?
Before last season I agreed with you. I think we both said our preference was to load up on weapons above prioritising the defense. But last year made a mockery of that. I'm going to give it a few more weeks before I swing back the other way, but on that game life without Kelce looks a lot harder on the theory of "Mahomes magic fixes everything"

Let's see what we've got with Rice, James etc and see where we are Week 4-ish.

Mahomes can’t overcome Butterfinger drops. That was true when Tyreek had some bad drops and tip ball INT’s just as much as it’s true with the current group of receivers. Front office needs to put way more emphasis on finding dudes that catch the damn ball. This seemed to be the heavy emphasis of the Patriots with Brady. They didn’t have elite game breaking receivers, but they had guys who caught the ball 99% of the time.

I'm not sure Toney had a history of drops anywhere but I agree there's not much that can be done about those sorts of clangers. I think Brady had 3 things - an elite OL, elite TE and elite slot receiver. Right now Mahomes has a very good possibly elite IOL and an elite TE. Our OTs aren't elite and aren't going to be, but if a guy steps into that WR role then I think Mahomes does the rest until Kelce falls off.

We just need ONE guy from Moore, Toney or Rice to become a good to great receiver and we're golden. This is why I'm basically drafting a WR or TE every year in the first 2 rounds. Keep going until you hit and then go again!

Toney has had issues with drops before. Nothing like this though, I think. He just had an epically bad game. It happens. We've seen him play a lot better, so I'm pretty sure he'll bounce back. Let's not forget that as a rookie he torched the DAL defense for 189 yards.

He'll be okay.

Lol, well that was an awful beginning. Just have to laugh at a certain point.

yep, the WRs were terrible. Don't have to rehash exactly how they were terrible, think that's probably been covered already.

Just a couple-three stats, then I'm done talking about how bad the WRs were tonight.

Mahomes threw passes to all 7 KC WRs, connecting with 6 of them.

For 138 yards. 10-for-22 when throwing to a WR. 45%.

Its not going to be Moore, and Toney will always be limited because he is a broke dick.

I was higher than most on Moore, defended him all last season, and I'm probably going to give him a little more time. BUT...yeah, i'm inching closer to having got that one wrong.
