But that doesn't explain why they would break down the door, not knowing if this guy had guns in his room or what. You'd think if they realized he was home, they would run off or try to do it quietly. And robbery definitely doesn't explain why the solo guy didn't take anything. You'd think he could find something he could carry himself that he'd take while he was there. Jewelry, something.

Or maybe they stole his guns on the previous breakin, wanted to check out the room and case the place if they were going to come back and get him later.

But all the loud noises seem to mean they weren't trying to be quiet. Maybe they thought no one was home, then somehow they figured out he was home, figured he was going to come out of his bedroom with an AK, and so they were going to get him first. It's dark, the guy fires and he drops (not knowing he just caught the leg), and they all run off.

I don't know why you would break down the door, not knowing what you were going to find on the other side, instead of just running.

And if you were going to kill someone, why not just send one guy? Why have accomplices there to roll over on you later or something? None of this really makes sense.

The most plausible thing seems to be a mix of robbery, people who had it in for him anyway, and bad guys who aren't too smart...? We probably aren't dealing with a bunch of rhodes scholars here breaking into houses and shooting people.

How would they realize he was in there? It doesnt sound like a burglary to me, if it was they would have just run away. Maybe they kicked it in thinking it was locked from the outside only to find a hard hitting safety wielding a machete, fired two shots and ran.
In any event these were absolute nitwits. They went from burglary charges and a relative slap on the wrist to their lives are absolutely over now.

I don't know, there are a lot of holes in this no matter how you look at it.

Maybe they thought there was something good hidden in the bedroom? Cash, jewelry?

Update: Family friend Richard Sharpstein said at least one of the suspects was at Taylor's house when his sister recently had a party, but that Taylor did not know the men. ...Fox News

Four Arrested in Killing of Redskins’ Taylor

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/01/sp...ts&oref=slogin

Excerpt:

The police spokeswoman Linda O’Brien identified the men as Venjah K. Hunter 20; Eric Rivera Jr., 17; Jason Scott Mitchell, 17; and Charles Kendrick Lee Wardlow, 18.

O’Brien said at least one of the men had confessed to the killing. Although the exact charges for each individual have not yet been determined, the men faced charges of burglary and murder, O’Brien said.

“We do have confessions, but we’re not in a situation to discuss those at this time,” O’Brien said last night.

The four men have been booked into the Lee County Jail, 160 miles northwest of Miami, and will eventually be transferred to Miami, she said.

Taylor, the 24-year-old Pro Bowl player, was shot in his home in suburban Miami early Monday morning and died Tuesday after what appeared to be an attempted burglary. He had been at home, not with the Redskins, because he had been dealing with a knee injury.

The Miami-Dade police director Robert Parker said the suspects were not expecting Taylor to be home when they broke in and ended up shooting Taylor in the leg, hitting a main artery.

“They were certainly not looking to go there and kill anyone,” Parker said.

Although law enforcement officials have previously said they believed the break-in was a random crime, they are now looking into whether any of the suspects had been to the house before, Parker said.

Taylor’s father, Pedro, a police chief in Florida City, did not return a telephone call yesterday seeking comment. At a news conference yesterday before the arrests, Taylor said that he knew three individuals had been detained, but said that the police did not want him to comment further.

“They won’t go into details because they don’t want to compromise the case,” Taylor said

the blade is the only thing that doesnt fit. with out knowing if he had hired a private security force between the time of the break in and his murder is unknown. But it would be interesting to find out.
the fact that they left a knife, could be as simple as a nervous hood.
i can vision a a criminal not wanting to fist fight a 230 pound pro football player.
the shit that wilbon and cowherd were talking pisses me off almost as much as the murders of Taylor. why the hell do they get away with that shit?

The post you quoted was;

"No, this is Chiefs Planet, and it is below he standards of this community to use another poster's name and lie about what they believe."

That is a plain statement. Not a hissy fit.

Do you disagree with that? I doubt that you think it is okay for people to use other poster's names and put words in their mouth.

And if you think I should not post about it, why are you?

I have that gutless chickensh*t on ignore, so if he has been crapping in the thread, that is on him.

It is certainly on him to use my name twice without any provocation, and to lie.

This place has deteriorated to where hateful posters set the tone and guys like you don't stand up for what is right.

You contribute to that by siding up with the gutless chickensh*t and throwing stones at me.

You would have done better not to add to it, since my straightforward response to your criticisms has Dartgod popping off.

You can re-read the thread and find out who is responsible for disrespecting Taylor.

It is not me.

After, the jokes like Taylor getting shot was nothing, posters jumping to conclusions about him asking for it, and then having a gutless chickensh*t using other posters' name, I am not even in the top 10 of posters who have posted BS in this thread.

Maybe you ought to direct the backlash at the posters who deserve it.

OK, so they didn't know ST was at home. Did the girlfriend live there when ST was in DC during the football season? If she did then why did they break in the bedroom door? Not afraid of a woman?

If she had a party at the house earlier, was ST there then?

I guess if the house sits empty if ST is out of town this story starts to add up. If the girlfriend lives in the house then they either meant to kill/scare/whoknows what to her or they knew her. IF so then the story has more layers to come.

Still a very sad deal.

Sean
MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- The four men arrested in the shooting death of NFL player Sean Taylor didn't plan to kill him, authorities say.

"They were expecting a residence that was not occupied, so murder or shooting someone was not their initial motive," Robert Parker, director of the Miami-Dade Police Department, said Friday night.

"They were certainly not looking to go there and kill anyone," he said. "Their obvious motive was to go there and steal the contents of the house."

Police have more than one confession in the case and the individuals will be charged with murder, Parker said.

Taylor, 24, died Tuesday, a day after he was shot during an apparent burglary at his Miami home.

The suspects are Venjah K. Hunte, 20; Eric Rivera Jr., 17; Jason Scott Mitchell, 17; and Charles Kendrick Lee Wardlow, 18.

Additional arrests are possible, Parker said.

"The key to solving this case was citizens' tips," he said.

The men knew Taylor lived at the house, Parker said.

A police official told CNN they are investigating the possibility that one or more of the suspects knew members of Taylor's family.

At 1:45 a.m. Monday, Taylor's girlfriend, Jackie Garcia, called 911 and said someone had been shot.

Authorities have said she told police she was hiding under the bedding during the attack.

Garcia did not see what happened and could not provide a suspect description, Parker told reporters on Wednesday.

Police said Garcia and Taylor were awakened by noise in the living room, and that Taylor got up and locked the bedroom door, but the door was kicked in and two shots were fired, one striking him in the leg.

Garcia tried to call 911 but was unable to, and used her cell phone instead, police said. There was no evidence the line had been cut, Parker said Wednesday.

A break-in was also reported eight days earlier, Miami-Dade police said.

A police report said someone forced a window open and left a kitchen knife on a bed. Several drawers and a bedroom safe were searched during the break-in, according to the report.

Taylor was home unexpectedly because of an injury, his former attorney, Richard Sharpstein, told reporters Tuesday. "I think he was surprised or they were surprised to find him there," he said.

Taylor spent four years with the Washington Redskins, but had been out with a sprained right knee. He did not play in Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

Taylor was a first-round pick in the 2004 draft, according to his team's web site.

He played at the University of Miami, where he was an All-American in 2003, and was also a high school standout in the city. Dubbing him "the prototype NFL free safety," the Redskins credited Taylor's team-leading tackling prowess for sending him to his first Pro Bowl after 2006.

He was regarded as one of the hardest hitting players in the league. Taylor recorded 257 tackles (206 solo) during his brief career, two sacks and seven interceptions

But hey, aside from not knowing the suspects and them not even expecting him to be there when they broke in, this totally seems like it happened because of his past transgressions.

I'm pretty sure I heard Sharpstein say that the knife was something that had likely been taken from the kitchen.

Used to be a time when people around here stood up for what is right.

It is a lot worse to use someone else's name and make false attributions than it is for somebody to stand up for himself and against someone using their name and making false attributions.

Are you afraid of the gutless chickensh*t or what?
