RB has an argument for being our biggest team need

Man it’s bad. Like really bad. Really really really bad.

The Chiefs have the least explosive RB room in the NFL. Only 17 explosive plays from RB’s. Pacheco is the most explosive guy, and he’s been a good soldier here, but he’s not the guy. Excellent change of pace back, but his vision is bad and his lateral agility isn’t good either.

I love Kareem but he’s winding down. He’s 30 next year and you could see the wheels start to come off with usage.

I think we should consider a RB rd 1 if the board gets dicey, but ideally we sign someone like Ty Johnson from Buffalo. Also to preface this I think LT is numero uno for us and this is a scenario where one is just not attainable.

Everyone gets so mad at this offense and blames coaching but the pieces have just not been there. The truth is this team badly misses Jerrick McKinnon. They’ve gotten some of that from Perine but it’s just not enough.

We got 1 TD from a RB in the passing game this year. Compare that to:

2023: 7
2022: 12
2021: 5

Major major drop in production there that has killed the offense. I see these playoff teams with quality backs and it’s helped them tremendously.

Getting an explosive, dynamic playmaking RB has to be a major priority. It could change the entire offense and help soften the blow of losing Kelce (eventually) and working on LT

I keep coming back to Brashard Smith. I get everyone loves Tuten, but man this guy has special stop and start speed. Also good long speed. He was a former WR who switched to RB.

He’d be awesome as a change of place back and on kickoffs. I get we need a 3 down back but this kid could line up all over the field and give us what we haven’t had in a while.

This is exactly what they drafted Clyde for. Same kind of player but this kid can be had in the late 3rd or 4th rd.

This kids start and stop ability reminds me of Tyreek.

We found it guys. We found the prospect that is the best of Pacheco and Kareem.

YES!

Finally . . . . someone that's on board with me for Smith!

Love the stop and start, the weapon that can be used in the return game, elite potential as a 3rd down back. Great pass catcher, capable blocker (yeah, he's a bit smaller, but actually graded among the top pass blockers at RB along with LeQuint Allen).

Would be a HR pick in round 4, but you'd likely have to take him at 3(95) if you want to be sure. Unless the Chiefs trade back a little from 63 or 66 and gain an extra 4th.

Would LOVE to see this dude in KC RED!!!

I’m 100% with you two! My top preference would be to take a lead back in Henderson and trade Pachecco, but Smith is my favorite complimentary back in the draft. He’d be the perfect gadget player for Andy and McKinnon replacement for Pat!

Judkins is still my guy, but I’m thinking he’s going to be picked closer to pick 31 than 63.

I am now putting all my eggs in the Devin Neal basket. Was a little off of him after the combine, but after seeing his combine performance being identical to Kamara’s I’m back on being convinced he’s the best bang for your buck guy

Also love the Brashard Smith option slightly later in the draft, and I really like Hunter. Picked him for the Panthers in the CP mock.

This guy is probably the most Andy Reid RB in this entire draft. He feels very Chiefsy. Matt Miller has this guy as a 2nd day pick.

Strengths
-Eludes early traffic to give the run a chance.
-Runs with good bend and balance through the line.
-Makes smooth transitions to cut and accelerate.
-Sets up open-field tacklers to miss on sweeps and tosses.
-Quick, soft hands catch everything in their vicinity.
-Stacks yards after catch with wiggle and field vision.
-Sorts through blitzes and twists like a champ in pass pro.

Outstanding hands, 2nd best 10 split, 5th best 40, lateral agile toy, YAC.

Yeah. This guy is the best of the RB’s for this scheme it seems

Trade Pacheco? For what? He has zero trade value.

Run has gone through every back in the class at this point

3 on this page alone

Etienne is a good one though. Could be a great value on day 3.

It will be very hard for anybody to bitch about any RB or DL from this class bc it’s just that good. There’s too many good ones at worst.

I’ve got some I don’t really like all that much. Bayshul Tuten for example is a guy I just don’t care for that much and prefer many other similar type of backs before him.

But even I wouldn’t be mad if we drafted him in the 6th rd or later bc of the value.

I tried looking up some vids on Etienne's pass blocking but could only find a single video talking about it, but the timeline is before the start of the last college season. FWIW, the guys talking weren't high on that part of his game.

Fumble issues (9 the last 2 years), drop issues (9.4% drop rate), isn’t that great as a receiving back. Not that fluid there to me which is vital in this offense, elite straight line speed but not that great of lateral agility or elusiveness and his start/stop explosion is pretty average. His pro comp on NFL.com is Pacheco and that actually seems like a good comp.

Won’t knock him much for pass protection bc most of these backs need to work on that.

I think guys like Brashard Smith, Jaydon Blue, Trevor Etienne, RJ Harvey, DJ Giddens and Dylan Sampson can play his role better but that’s just my view.
