You don't take a guy you have a 4th round grade on in the second because you feel a need at that position. That's BAD player value. |

sure it does.
Good drafters do it all the time. If the guy they want will last longer they move down. If the guy they want won't last to their pick they move up. Really good drafters pick up more when they move down than they have to pay when they move up so all the moving around doesn't cost them too much. Ozzie Newsome was a good one |

One of the 2nd round picks should be an athletic SPARQ hero on defense

Ellerson Smith. Almost everyone has a 4th round grade on him. Small school guy, lots of upside, but raw and will need to be coached up. Odeyingbo- 3rd-4th round grade, probably a late first round talent, but tore his achilles and probably won't help you in 2021. It's entirely possible that those are your best players at edge when we come up at #58. You absolutely don't do that when there are WR's that can help you right away, at least two TE's that can help you, probably a LB, some interior OL, all that can play and contribute to your team day one. THAT is what player value is about. I like Smith and Odeyingbo, and would be all about packing our #4 and the 2 #5's to go get one should they fall into the early 4th, but there's no reason at all to grab one in the 2nd. Just go sign Ingram to be a rotational pass rusher, and see if one of the guys is there later. |

Hate to break this to you guys, but we’re going to fill needs, be it now or short term future need.
Corner, LB, C, DE, WR. Every one of those are needs Your just trying to get the best player at whatever need is on the list

![]() It’s drafting solely for need either way, one is just more aggressive than the other. The Chiefs should either draft a particular player at 58/63, trade up for one, or trade back for a particular group of players. Position should have little to do with that outside of eliminating RB, QB, DT, and OT from the conversation. |

There will be two waves of free agency to go; one post draft, and one around June. And there are still trades. You don't need to reach to fill immediate holes today and tomorrow. |

We have needs at about 6 positions. We're not going to just draft a QB for example. That would be dumb. But we're also not going to pass on a potential starting center for a 4th-round DE, either. That's what we're talking about. |

Some teams have bad traders who give away the farm to move up a couple of spots, Chicago trading up 2 spots to get a shitty QB for no reason. Some guys are smart and always seem to gain more than lose when moving around. They trade down for 3 picks and then move back up for 1 pick and still get the guy they need. |
