BVS made money as well. A good chunk of fans think it's damaged the brand of Star Wars the same Way BVS did and are using the historic Drop off per week to justify said hate. I'm hoping it did damage the Brand and after Solo bomb's they fire Rian from the new trilogy. I don't want Rian Johnson near Star wars or any sci fi movie for that matter ever again. |

So fans are pissed because the movie didn't fulfill their fan-fiction and Disney/Lucasfilm should take that seriously and abandon all future projects?

It's not one single reason. for some it's a bad movie. For me it tossed everything from TFA in the trash and made TFA pointless. it also didn't leave me anything to look forward too in the 3rd movie. It did the exact opposite of what the 2nd movie in a trilogy is suppose to do. |

I'm sorry you had that reaction.
I think it's a profoundly good movie that expands the Star Wars universe in interesting and bold ways. Sucks that you didn't appreciate the movie. But at the end of the day... it's one movie. And Rian's not doing the next one. So, it seems premature to walk away from this, if it's something you really love, given that JJ is back and it can go in a million different directions. |

Also, keep in mind, while Rogue One earned $1.056 billion at the box office, none of the stars were paid more than $500k for their performance and most were paid far, far less. Quote:

It'll limp to $1.3 billion and while that's a nice number in a vacuum, it doesn't bode well for the future of the franchise, which now includes Solo and Episode IX. This is not a good look for Lucasfilm, KK, RJ or Disney. They've turned off half the fan base, which will be skeptical about Solo and Episode IX (and whatever comes next). |

And, from what I've read, you're underestimating the budget. |

This isn't the Star Wars trilogy that I and millions of others wanted to see. Quote:
As I mentioned earlier, there's no way that in 30 years, people will be clamoring for the further adventures of Finn, Poe and Rey. |

I vote the Dallas maneuver. The whole damn thing was a dream sequence.

I'm more worried about Rian's new trilogy than I am IX. That being said TLJ left a'lot of fans with no hype what so ever and very little Speculation on IX. |

Beyond that... I guess I don't understand how the opposite of your post isn't true. Meaning, I get that you didn't like the movie but 1.3 billion is a success. Maybe we can argue about the word staggering. But how is 1.3 billion, the highest grossing film of 2017 and one of the 15 highest grossing films of all time not a success? How is that "dangerously under-performing?" Especially when no one at Disney expected it make 2 billion? I'm really not trying to argue, I'm just trying to understand. There are people who are more connected and way smarter than me posting on the internet. I admit that. But this really feels like a smear campaign by butthurt fans who can't let go of the OT or their own personal expectations and wants for Luke ****ing Skywalker. Honestly, I'm just trying to get it. |

Either you have a bunch of people on ignore or you just haven't read all of the posts in this thread because it's been clearly explained why people didn't care for this movie. |

Do you have a link showing before the release that they expected this to fall short of TFA? I personally expected the return of Luke ****ing Skywalker to boost it past TFA.. at least equal it. |
